Knowing how to safely store breast milk helps protect its quality and keeps your baby healthy.
Storage Times:
🕒 Room Temperature (up to 77°F/25°C): Up to 4 hours
🧊 Refrigerator (40°F/4°C or colder): Up to 4 days
❄️ Freezer (0°F/-18°C or colder): Best if used within 6 months, but acceptable for up to 12 months
💡 Storage Tips:
• Store milk in clean breast milk storage bags or food-grade containers.
• Label each container with the date the milk was expressed.
• Store milk toward the back of the refrigerator or freezer, not in the door, where temperatures fluctuate.
Every ounce is valuable—proper storage helps ensure your baby receives safe, high-quality nutrition.

Breastfeeding takes a lot of energy, and taking care of yourself is just as important as caring for your baby. 💙
Staying hydrated can help you feel your best throughout the day. Keep a water bottle within reach, choose water-rich foods like fruits and soups, and make drinking fluids part of your nursing or pumping routine.
Small habits can make a big difference in supporting your overall health during your breastfeeding journey.

Breastfed babies typically drink smaller, more consistent amounts than formula-fed babies because breast milk changes to meet their needs.
A simple guideline for breastfed babies is:
About 1-1.5 ounces (30-45mL) of breast milk per hour of separation.
Offering smaller bottles (2-4oz for younger babies) and using paced bottle feeding can help prevent overfeeding and support a smooth transition between breast and bottle.
Every baby is unique, so hunger cues and individual feeding patterns should always guide care.

Returning to work while breastfeeding can feel like a big transition—but you have protections that can help make the process easier.
The PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act requires most employers to provide:
🍼 Reasonable break time to pump breast milk during the workday
🚪 A private space (not a bathroom) for pumping
Planning ahead can help make your return to work smoother. Talk with your employer about your pumping needs, create a schedule that works for you, and remember that support is available.
Every breastfeeding journey looks different, and knowing your rights can help you feel more confident as you balance work and feeding your baby.
