Myrtle Point Public Library A public library located in Myrtle Point, OR. A proud member of the Coastline libraries. Good sharer, friend to all. Our story starts in 1921. E.C.

A group of ladies, lead by Mrs. Barker, began the Library Club. In 1923, the club decided to start a public library. After the construction of the new city hall was completed, a single room was made to be the public library, which was staffed with volunteers six days a week. The library held $400 worth of books and a dozen magazines. In 1943, upon the death of P.W. Laird, a bequest of $8000 and tw

o plots of land were donated to the city for a public library. The library, was named after his wife, who was one of the first librarians of Myrtle Point. The building was built and occupied October 1, 1954 and dedicated to Flora M Laird November 25, 1954. In 1984, a large addition was made to the building after the purchase of more land.
