If you noticed a lot of smoke near Station 1 on Grand River, LTFD hosted Oakland Community College’s flashover training unit. This training is invaluable for department members learning to identify the indications of flashover during firefighting operations. It will help our members operate safely while fighting fires in modernly constructed structures.

The Lyon Township Fire Department would like to congratulate Sergeant Brian Salenik on his retirement as a part-time paid-on-call member.
Sergeant Salenik began his service with the Lyon Township Fire Department on April 3, 2001, as a paid-on-call member. He continued serving until the end of 2004, when he stepped away from the department for family reasons.
On February 1, 2010, Sergeant Salenik returned to the department as a part-time paid-on-call firefighter and continued to serve as a dedicated member of our organization. On February 1, 2021, he was promoted to the position of Sergeant, a role he proudly held until his retirement.
Throughout Sergeant Salenik’s tenure, he received several letters of appreciation from members of the community for his actions and participation in various events. He was also the recipient of a department lifesaving award for his actions on December 2, 2024.
Sergeant Salenik was also instrumental in the planning and organization of the Fire Department’s annual Halloween party. His dedication and countless hours of work helped make this event a success year after year, and his contributions to this tradition will certainly be missed.
The Lyon Township Fire Department would like to congratulate Sergeant Salenik on his retirement and thank him for his 20 years of dedicated service to Lyon Township and its residents. His commitment to this department and the community has made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for the many years he dedicated to serving others.
Congratulations, Sir, and we wish you the very best in your retirement!

Today’s crew got in some hands-on training with our favorite department member: rescue Randy. At about 150 pounds, Randy isn’t much help when he’s trapped in a fire—so Lyon Township firefighters practiced carrying him up the stairs and across the parking lot.

Cheap Charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the chance of fire. Cheap or o-brand chargers may not meet important safety standards.
