This is what I’ve been talking to people about lately when it comes to voting. A lot of people, especially young people, but even older people, don’t know who they’re voting for. They might know who they’re voting for for governor or the U.S. Senate, and maybe even Congress, but that’s usually as far as it goes.

They don’t know who they’re voting for for state Senate or state House. They don’t know who they’re voting for for Secretary of State, city council, or other important local positions. If it’s not a mayor, an executive position, or a major federal office, many people don’t know who the candidates are.

They also don’t know who they’re voting for for positions like the University of Michigan Board of Regents, university trustees, or governors. This system is so flawed, and we have to fix it. We need to bring more awareness to these races, the candidates running, and why these positions matter so people can make informed decisions about who they’re voting for.

This is Wednesday, the day after the election. I was at the Lyon Township Board of Trustees meeting speaking about the data center issue because the fight isn't over.
We will continue to fight until things start getting better for Michigan. If our elected representatives won't fight for us, then we'll stand together and fight for ourselves. This campaign may be over, but my commitment to this community is not.

This was, without a doubt, the craziest part of the endorsement process in this race.

I've never been congratulated so much for losing, and honestly, it's been nice. I truly appreciate every message, phone call, and conversation. They have meant more to me than you know.

In this video, I want to talk about the endorsement process and what I experienced during this campaign. One thing I learned is that endorsements can have a big influence on how people vote. Sometimes people rely on an endorsement instead of taking the time to learn about each candidate for themselves.

My hope is that, in future elections, more people will take the time to research every candidate. We live in the 2020s. You don't have to rely only on endorsements anymore. You can go to a candidate's Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram and see who they are, what they believe, and how they interact with people. Social media gives everyone the opportunity to hear directly from the candidate and decide for themselves.

At the end of the day, I just hope more people take the time to do their own research before casting their vote.

Five months ago, I decided to run for State Senate. During those five months, I was only able to canvass for a little over 30 days, yet we still earned 10,737 votes, or 28% of the vote. My opponent had been campaigning for 13 months, but I'm incredibly proud of what we accomplished in such a short amount of time.
The fight isn't over. I got up this morning, went to work, came home, attended a Board of Trustees meeting, and finally went grocery shopping for the first time in nearly three months. Then I was right back to talking about data centers and why we still need a moratorium.
This campaign was never about one election. It's about fighting for our communities and doing what's right. I'm in this for the long haul, and I'm just getting started.
Thank you to everyone who believed in me, volunteered, donated, and stood by my side. We built something special together, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish next.

Today is the day. You should be getting out and voting, we have 2 hours left. I've visited all 90 precincts in my district, 64 locations, and I'm exhausted. Make sure you vote for the candidate you feel is best for you.

Today has been one of the best days of my life!!!
I've had the opportunity to meet so many incredible people throughout this election cycle, and I'll never forget this experience. Thank you to everyone who took the time to talk with me, share your stories, and welcome me into your communities. No matter what happens next, these memories will stay with me forever.
