Summer camp should be a wonderful experience for kids where all they have to think about is making new friends and lifelong memories. That's why Iโ€™m proud to have worked on this bill to keep kiddos safe at Oklahoma summer camps.

This new law improves emergency preparedness requirements for youth camps, so staff are well-equipped to respond to severe weather or any other unexpected situations that may arise over the summer. My heart goes out to the Camp Mystic families who helped advocate for this law here in Oklahoma and similar laws in other states.

House Bill 1675 requires all Oklahoma summer camps and programs to go through a risk assessment and develop emergency plans for any kind of severe weather.

Please take time today to remember the American heroes who selflessly gave their lives to protect our freedoms. Their legacy lives on in the heart of this nation. I know I will never forget their sacrifices for this country.

It was an honor to work with a great group of constituents to introduce and pass a Senate Resolution that raises awareness about alpha-gal syndrome, a growing health condition that can develop after a tick bite. This condition, which can trigger severe allergic reactions after eating red meat, has become more prevalent in recent years.

It was a true honor to receive Rogers State University's Distinguished Hillcat Award. My time at RSU played such a big role in shaping who I am today, both personally and professionally.

I loved my time there, especially my time on the basketball court, and I wouldnโ€™t trade my experience on campus for anything. RSU helped me develop the discipline and work ethic I rely on every single day as a state senator. Without question, RSU has helped me become the person I am today.

Congratulations to my fellow alums who were recognized this past weekend. Once a Hillcat, always a Hillcat!

Starting next school year, full-day kindergarteners and elementary school students will get more time for recess!

More time to move on the playground = more engaged students in the classroom. That's why I'm proud to be the author of this new law that ensures these kids get at least 40 minutes of recess every day. ๐Ÿ›
