Summer camp should be a wonderful experience for kids where all they have to think about is making new friends and lifelong memories. That's why Iโm proud to have worked on this bill to keep kiddos safe at Oklahoma summer camps.
This new law improves emergency preparedness requirements for youth camps, so staff are well-equipped to respond to severe weather or any other unexpected situations that may arise over the summer. My heart goes out to the Camp Mystic families who helped advocate for this law here in Oklahoma and similar laws in other states.
House Bill 1675 requires all Oklahoma summer camps and programs to go through a risk assessment and develop emergency plans for any kind of severe weather.
