ASTEC has created a community environment for its student scholars and families. All students are required to take 9-weeks of Character Education, Manners, and Etiquette. We have a culture of high expectations and respect for diversity. We provide for the needs of our families through our clothing closet, our food pantry, and for family and student counseling. The culture of the school has created

a place where students feel safe and cared for. The consistent positive behaviors of our student scholars is a testament to the success of the model we have created. Students are accepted on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Existing students and their siblings are given enrollment priority. ASTEC has a high retention rate among our students, making most openings in the 6th grade. For the new elementary school, we expect our new students will be mostly in Pre-K after this first year.

We're excited to welcome our scholars and families back for another incredible school year! We have two great opportunities to help everyone prepare for a successful start to the school year.

🏫 Sneak-A-Peek & Back-to-School Orientation
📅 Tuesday, August 11
👋 Sneak-A-Peek
🕟 4:30–5:30 p.m.
📍 ASTEC Elementary School
🍎 Prek-5th Grades

Parents and scholars are invited to visit the school, learn about class assignments, walk through classrooms, and meet their teachers.

📚 Back-to-School Orientation
🕕 6:00–7:30 p.m.
📍 Secondary School Gymnasium

🆕 New this year: Instead of separate orientation sessions by grade level, all elementary families will attend one Back-to-School Orientation together.

Following Sneak-A-Peek, families should proceed to the new secondary school gymnasium, where Orientation will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.

During the session, families will receive important information about the upcoming school year, connect with staff, collect their driveline information, and get everything they need for a successful start to the year.

🔥🏃 ASTEC Sports Physical Night 🏅

ASTEC Charter Schools is partnering with Just For Kids Pediatrics to offer sports physicals for scholars in Grades 6–12 who plan to participate in athletics.

📅 Wednesday, August 12
⏰ 4:30–6:30 p.m.
📍 High School Student Parking
New ASTEC Secondary Building on the Deskin Campus
2620 General Pershing Boulevard

Please park on the west side of the building and enter through the west high school entrance under the red awning.

Sports physicals are required before scholars may participate in athletics and will meet OSSAA requirements.

💵 Cost: $25, payable directly to Just For Kids Pediatrics
💳 Accepted payment: Cash, debit cards, credit cards, and qualifying insurance

OSSAA physical forms will be available in the Secondary Office before the event. Families are encouraged to pick up a form in advance and complete the required parent and scholar sections before arriving. Forms may also be downloaded in advance at www.ASTEC.Life/OSSAA.

We encourage all scholar-athletes to take advantage of this convenient opportunity before competition begins.

LAST CHANCE! FREE Rubber Pellets – Available Through Monday, August 3!

There's still a quantity of FREE rubber pellets remaining from the former ASTEC Middle School courtyard—but Monday, August 3, is your last opportunity to pick them up.

These rubber pellets have some dirt mixed in and can be great for:

🌱 Gardens
🛝 Playgrounds
🌳 Landscaping
🏡 Other outdoor projects

No reservation is needed—just bring your own containers or equipment and help yourself while supplies last.

🏫 Getting Ready to Welcome Our Team! 🖤💛

The countdown is on! Our administrators and staff have been hard at work preparing our brand-new ASTEC Secondary School to welcome teachers for Pre-Service Training beginning Monday, August 3.

From setting up classrooms and technology to cleaning, organizing, and putting the finishing touches on our new space, everyone is pitching in to ensure we're ready for an incredible school year. It truly takes a team, and we couldn't be more grateful for the dedication of our ASTEC family.

We're also counting down to the first day of school on Thursday, August 20, and we can't wait for our scholars and families to experience this amazing new building for themselves.

The excitement is building, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to ASTEC's new home very soon! 🖤💛
