Today our CJAMM team stepped away from the day-to-day tasks and spent some intentional time together.

We talked about our core values, our vision, our mission, and the moments that remind us why we do this work. We lifted each other up, shed some tears, laughed a lot, and were reminded that the people beside us matter just as much as the work in front of us.

At the heart of it all was a simple reminder: we belong to each other- no exceptions.

A huge thank you to Cara Farms for being the most amazing hosts and providing a wonderful meal and devotion, as well as giving us such a welcoming space to gather, reflect, create, and dream together.

We left grateful for this team, grateful for this mission, and grateful for the community around us that make this life changing work possible.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to spend the morning with many of our incredible apartment sponsors at Exodus House Tulsa. (Thank you Circle of Care, Inc. for allowing us the use of your beautiful Tulsa facility!)

It was a great time to connect, talk about what’s ahead, and share some of the steps we’re taking as we continue to strengthen and grow the program.

None of this work happens alone. We’re incredibly grateful for the local churches, organizations, and businesses who continue to show up, invest, and make this work possible. We’re excited about where we’re headed and thankful to have such a strong community walking alongside us. There’s something pretty exciting about a Saturday where we get to divide and share, showing up in different communities and sharing what’s happening at CJAMM, and what’s ahead.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to connect, tell the story, and dream about what’s next. Most of all, we’re grateful for the amazing community surrounding this mission. Thank you for making this work possible. If you are in the area come by and say hi!

December 4–5, CJAMM will host our 3rd Annual New Christmas Day!

This is an overnight camp for New Day campers ages 8–14 who have been impacted by parental incarceration. For $400, you can sponsor one camper, including their overnight stay, snacks, Christmas activities, gifts (from their wish list), a stocking, bedding, and all the camp fun that comes with it.

This Labor Day, we remember that the history of work in America is also intertwined with the history of incarceration.

As the labor movement of the late 1800s fought for the dignity, safety, and rights of American workers, thousands of incarcerated people were being leased to private businesses as a source of cheap labor.

That history asks us a question that still matters:
Who do we believe is worthy of the dignity of meaningful work?

At CJAMM, we walk alongside people returning from incarceration as they seek employment, rebuild stability, provide for their families, and find their place again in their communities.

This Labor Day, we honor the dignity of work and the dignity of every person doing the work of rebuilding a life.
