It's Labor Day weekend and the last full of this racing season. Regular seasons come to a close at Brewerton Speedway and Fulton Speedway, while International Classic Weekend takes over at Oswego Speedway. As the seasons wind down, we will have information coming on the 40th Neivel Precision Plumbing Outlaw Weekend at Fulton Speedway and the 54th Super DIRTcar Series Super DIRT Week at Oswego Speedway.

Get out to an Oswego County Track this weekend for some incredible racing action!

Brewerton Speedway: The checkered flag waves for the last time this season at Brewerton Speedway on September 4 with the Chris Nichols Snap-On & STOP-DWI NY Season Finale. On tap for the evening are championship races for the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman and Mirabito DIRTcar 4-Cylinders. The evening also features fan-favorite ESS Sprints for the first stop of their three stop weekend. Pits open at 2 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5:30 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Adult general admission is $25 and kids 18 and younger are free. Pit passes are also available with $40 passes for DIRTcar/IMCA Members and $45 passes for non-members. Brewerton Speedway is located at 60 U.S. Rte. 11 in Brewerton. **Note that there is construction on the bridge coming from the south so speedway personnel suggest going to the Central Square exit and backtracking the 4 miles back to the track, either down Rte. 11 or down Rte. 37. Leaving the facility after the races will be trial and error until we see how the first show goes. Late night bridge traffic hasn't seen the same level of backup and may be ok for egress out of the track. The single lane bridge will be in place for the entire 2026 season. Give yourself a little extra time either way.**

Fulton Speedway: The regular season comes to a close on the high banks on September 5. Championship night is sponsored by Smurfit Westrock, Stirling Lubricants, J. Gordon Contracting, Dot Foods and STOP-DWI NY. Regular season champions will be crowned for the Tracey Road DIRTCar Modifieds, DIRTcar Series Sportsman, and Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Stock Cars. The ESS Sprints will also, make their second stop in Oswego County for the weekend. The E & V Energy Novice Sportsman will fill out the racing slate. Off track, there will be a backpack giveaway for kids! Pits open at 4 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6 p.m. and racing kicks off at 7 p.m. Adult general admission is $25 with kids 18 and younger admitted for free. Pit passes are available for members at $40 and non-members at $45. Next up at Fulton Speedway will be Outlaw 200 Weekend, taking place October 1-3. Fulton Speedway is located at 1603 Co. Rte. 57 in Fulton.

Oswego Speedway: The granddaddy of Supermodified racing takes place at the Steel Palace with the 70th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 on September 6. Racing action takes place all weekend with racing from the GTR Super Stocks on Friday and the groundpounders from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series on Saturday, leading up to classics for the Oswego County Tourism 350, Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodifieds, and Novelis Supermodifieds on Sunday.

🏁 Racing kicks off on Friday, September 4 with time trials for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodifieds at 2 p.m. The evening slate includes GTR Super Stock Dave London Memorial XVIII 50 lap race and New York State Compact Championship 20 lap feature. Tickets for Friday are $25 for adult general admission (save $5 and get your $20 GA adult ticket online at oswegospeedway.customsoftwarecreations.com.) Kids 6-16 are $10; children five and under are free. Pit passes are $40 and VIP tickets are $100. Gates open at 4 p.m. for Friday evening racing, with grandstands opening at 5:30 p.m. and heats at 6 p.m.

🏁 Saturday, September 5 brings the ground-pounding action from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for a 150-lap championship along with a 40-lap feature from the DCR Performance Sportsman Modifieds. Tickets for Saturday are $50 for adult general admission (save $5 and get your $45 GA adult ticket online at oswegospeedway.customsoftwarecreations.com.) Kids 6-16 are $20 and children five and under are free. Pit passes are $55 and VIP tickets are $125. Reserved seats are available for $60 ($55 for online tickets.) Pits open Saturday at noon with grandstands opening at 2:30 p.m. Warmups begin at 2:40 p.m. and heats kick off at 5 p.m.

🏁 Sunday, September 6 is the running of the 70th Annual International Classic. Racing action starts with time trials for the Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodifieds. The racing slate turns to feature action with a 50-lap feature for the 350 Supermodifieds and a 60-lap feature for the Small Block Supermodifieds. The season winds down with the running of the International Classic 200-lap race for the Supermodifieds. Tickets for Sunday are $60 for adult general admission (save $5 and get your $55 GA adult ticket online at oswegospeedway.customsoftwarecreations.com.) Kids 6-16 are $20 and children five and under are free. Pit passes are $70. Reserved seats are available for $70 ($65 for online tickets.) Pits open at 7:30 a.m. with grandstands and warmups at 10 a.m. 350 Supermodified time trials begin at 11:30 a.m. The first feature (350 Supermodifieds) will roll off at 1 p.m.

The public is invited to tour the NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The vessel will be docked at the Port of Oswego West Pier, located at 1 W 1st Street, Oswego, NY. Parking is available at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum. Visitors can tour the ship to learn about the hydrographic survey mission of the NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson in Lake Ontario, engage with representatives from Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary, and tour the H. Lee White Maritime Museum.

📜 Lunchtime Tour of the Richardson-Bates House: September 4, 12:15 p.m. Veronica Gould, recent graduate of History at SUNY Oswego and volunteer at the Richardson-Bates museum, created and will guide a specialized lunchtime tour. Centering on animal symbolism through the lens of Renaissance and Egyptian/ Greek Revival styles of the Victorian era, she will take a group through specific artifacts on the first floor of the museum. This is a chance to see the art, culture, and natural world through Max Richardson’s chosen decor. Richardson built and decorated his home on E. Third St in the 1870 and 1880’s and he collected exotic items from around the world. No reservations are necessary and no admission will be charged, but donations are appreciated. 🏁 70th Annual International Classic Weekend at Oswego Speedway: September 4 – 6. The green flag drops at the Steel Palace for the biggest Supermodified race in the country. The weekend kicks off on Friday with time trials for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodifieds. Friday evening is the Stock Car Spectacular. Saturday’s Modified Madness features the groundpounders from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series. Sunday is the 70th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 for the Supermodifieds. Small Blocks will run a 60-lap Classic and 350 Supermodifieds will run a 50-lap classic. There will be testing sessions on Wednesday and Thursday for competing classes. Less than 12 hours until the lunar eclipse begins! All are welcome to the Rice Creek Observatory's free "watch party" of the near-total lunar eclipse. Led by astronomer Dr. John Zielinski, we'll be watching as the Earth's shadow obscures the Moon and only a dim, reddish or brownish cast remains. Free light refreshments will be available to attendees. We'll also enjoy views of Saturn throughout the event.

Observing will begin at 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 27 and end at 2 a.m. on Friday, August 28. The timeline of the eclipse is:

10:33 pm: Partial eclipse begins—moon starts to become red
12:12 am: Maximum eclipse—93% in shadow
1:51 am: Partial eclipse ends

Since clear weather is needed for observing the night sky, interested participants should call (315) 312-6620 after 6 pm today (August 27) to hear a recorded event update based on the weather conditions.

Van shuttle transportation is available for SUNY Oswego students, with pickups at the Marano Campus Center bus stop at 10:45 pm, 11:45 pm, and 12:45 am. Rice Creek is a short, 7-minute drive away. Rice Creek Field Station is located at 193 Thompson Road, in Oswego.

Champions for the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodifieds, and Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodifieds will be crowned on Oswego County Tourism and Rupert’s Party Rental night.
