Healthy soils are often the result of keeping something growing in them as long as possible each year. These year-round plants/cover crops protect the soil and create important root channels that help direct rainwater deep into the ground and eventually help replenish (recharge) groundwater aquifers. Many residents, utilities, and industries (including agriculture) depend on groundwater for their daily needs.

Healthy soils smell sweet and earthy, not sour or metallic. When you dig into the soil, it should be soft, moist, and easily crumble. Air, water, minerals, decaying plant residue, organic matter from dead and living organisms, insects, worms, animals, and microbes all comprise a healthy soil. Each piece works to provide a balanced environment that fosters the plants, microbes, and insects that depend on it for life.

HELP US PLAN FOR THE FUTURE OF DOWNTOWN PENDLETON!

We are conducting a Downtown Parking Study with LVR International, and your input matters!

We are asking all downtown business owners, property owners, managers, and tenants to take a few minutes to complete our survey. Your firsthand knowledge will help us better understand how parking is being used throughout our Downtown District.

This study looks at parking parcel-by-parcel, hour-by-hour, and use-by-use — giving us a much more complete picture than simply looking at one peak time.

Your feedback will help LVR International develop recommendations that better reflect the needs of our businesses, property owners, residents, and visitors.
