The Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for Criminal Justice and Public Safety develops and implements reforms in an equitable fashion informed by the decades of systemic oppression, racism, and poverty.

Last week, the national convening for the Just Home Project was hosted in Philadelphia! The Just Home Project is a national initiative led by the MacArthur Foundation and the Urban Institute to break the cycle of homelessness and incarceration.

As part of this national convening, on Friday, September 25th, OPS Executive Director of the Division of Criminal Justice, Kurt August, and Executive Director of Neighborhood Wellness Court, Eleni Belisonzi, gave Just Home providers a tour of the Kensington Wellness Support Center (KWSC). Kurt and Eleni shared the ins and outs of the KWSC and Wellness Court, and the Just Home folks even met some of our KWSC community partners!

Thank you to the MacArthur Foundation, the Urban Institute, and all of the Just Home providers for the opportunity to highlight our work!

From John’s calm and steady presence to Gabriel’s authenticity and positive energy, Ayonna’s commitment to growth, and Brandt’s wisdom and Southwest Philly credibility — each of them brings something special to the work and to the communities they serve.

Celebrating the people who show up for Philadelphia’s young people and communities every day!

Last week, eight dedicated staff members from the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) received the PPD Community Partnership Award for their outstanding commitment to community engagement, collaboration, and service.

From supporting youth through pre-arrest diversion and connecting young people with critical resources to creating meaningful opportunities for youth voice and leadership, our DCJ team continues to strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and the communities we serve.

Friday Flashback! ✨

Last month, as part of Public Safety Awareness Month, the Office of Public Safety hosted its first ever resource fair featuring every OPS division at the Pennsylvania Convention Center!

The event brought together numerous community organizations and City agencies to connect Philadelphia residents with resources, services, information, and opportunities to support safer and stronger communities.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success! And an even bigger thank you to Mayor Cherelle L. Parker for joining us and showing your continued support for public safety and the communities we serve!

We’re proud to look back on this incredible day of connection, collaboration, and community. We are endlessly grateful to everyone who made it possible!💙
