Food Safety = Mission Readiness 🛡️🍽️

September is National Food Safety Month. Foodborne illness sickens 48 million Americans annually, making it a critical operational threat to our Joint Forces.

Through our global Subsistence Supply Chain, DLA Troop Support ensures the food delivered to our warfighters is secure and safe. From warehouse to mess hall, we protect the force by practicing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's four core standards:

🧼 Clean: Wash hands for 20 seconds and sanitize preparation surfaces.

🚫 Separate: Keep raw meats isolated from ready-to-eat military rations.

🔥 Cook: Use a thermometer to verify foods reach safe internal temperatures.

❄️ Chill: Keep cold storage at 40°F or below to preserve cold-chain integrity.

Twenty-five years ago, the world changed in minutes.

We remember the 2,977 people killed on Sept. 11, 2001, along with the thousands of first responders, recovery workers and survivors who have since died from toxic exposure and 9/11-related illnesses. Their sacrifices didn't end in 2001, and we continue to honor them today.

Within hours of the attacks, DLA Troop Support personnel were moving critical resources; delivering boots, protective clothing, food and medical supplies to first responders at Ground Zero and the Pentagon, while accelerating support to warfighters deployed in the aftermath. That direct, quiet logistical response remains our standard today.

Watch live below as we join the nation in remembering the fallen, honoring the heroes and paying tribute to all who answered the call.
