Hi Neighbors!

Each month, L&I joins the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood & Community Engagement to bring City services directly to your neighborhood.

Come stop by our table when we visit your neighborhood and you can:

🔨 Get help with property maintenance or construction concerns.
🏚️ Report unsafe buildings or illegal work.
📋 Learn about permits & licensing.
👷 Ask questions about inspections or enforcement.
🤝 Connect with other City agencies for quality-of-life matters.

At every visit, our team will listen, document, set clear deadlines, and follow up—because building a government you can see, touch, and feel means meeting you where you are.

On July 18th, our team returned to Parkside for another PPL enforcement event— with 6abc Action News on hand to capture the progress.

Inspectors issued additional violations and cease-operations orders, while the Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Parking Authority assisted with vehicle recovery. Together, these efforts are creating real, visible change for residents.

This marks a powerful moment of accountability: 6ABC first covered Parkside back in December. Now, they’re back to show our commitment to our mission and the communities we serve.

Philly Hosts Session on Strategic Communication 🗣️

On July 11, as part of the 2025 National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference, Shemeka Moore, Communications Director for L&I ISC and QOL, led a session hosted by the Managing Director’s Office. The event brings together county officials from across the country for dynamic workshops, in-depth policy discussions and is centered on the evolving challenges and innovations in local government.

Her session, “Telling Your Story: With or Without the Media,” offered public officials practical tools for communicating during both everyday operations and high-pressure moments.

Using real examples—from emergency incidents to major city initiatives—Shemeka emphasized the importance of preparation, message control, and resident engagement, even when the media isn’t in the room. 📰🎥

We’re proud to see Philadelphia’s leadership represented on a national stage.

Our team hit the streets of Rising Sun Avenue, leading a Business Education & Enforcement (BEE) walkthrough to support local businesses before enforcement begins.

This program is about more than enforcement—it’s about empowering business owners with the tools and information they need to operate safely, legally, and successfully in their communities.

With the support of our partners—including Councilman Anthony Phillips, State Rep. Anthony Bellmon, Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s Office, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, and local community leaders—we:

📄 Distributed 85 multilingual education packets
🤝 Connected directly with business owners to answer questions and provide resources
📆 Set the stage for enforcement to begin in the coming weeks with a higher rate of compliance!

When we lead with education, we create real opportunities for compliance, cooperation, and community trust. That’s what the BEE Program is all about. 🐝

👏 Community Appreciation Post!

We received a heartfelt thank you from a resident on Meredith Street who was blown away by the work of our Clean and Seal Crew during a recent backyard cleanout.

The resident praised the team for being expedient, professional, and clearly in sync, noting the collaboration, respect, and camaraderie they brought to the job — a true reflection of great leadership and teamwork.

Special thanks to:
Andrew, Douglas, Terrell, Darrell, Jason, William, and their manager, Leon, for setting the tone!

Let’s keep showing Philly what teamwork and dedication looks like. 💚
