John Jacobs Elementary John Jacobs affords students a rich curriculum aligned to Arizona College and Career Ready Standards.

John Jacobs Elementary School, in the Washington Elementary School District, serves more than 550 Kindergarten through sixth grade children in the neighborhood bordered by Greenway on the north and Thunderbird on the south, on 23rd Avenue and adjacent to the Cave Creek Golf Course on 19th Ave. John Jacobs embraces effective teaching strategies to actively engage students in their lessons and build

student engagement in the learning process. The teachers and staff at John Jacobs are committed to our Continuous Improvement Plan, which focuses on instructional practices. Teachers build reading and math intervention plans and engage in data discussions to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students every day. Staff works together to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS.) The structure of MTSS provides John Jacobs' students with added academic support. Teacher instructional strategies continue to improve with increased student engagement and academic growth.

Our 6th grade Jags look forward to this special tradition each year, and this delicious lunch paired perfectly with all of the fun and color celebration festivities! 🌈🎉 It was such a memorable way to celebrate their hard work and send them off to middle school.

They are often the first smiling faces to welcome you through our doors, answer countless questions, support our students and staff, and help keep our campus running smoothly every single day. 🐆✨

Ms. Zive is celebrating her 19th year at John Jacobs and somehow still remembers families from years and years ago! 💫 Ms. Zive, Ms. Maritza and Ms. Enisa are truly the glue that keeps John Jacobs together.

🍦✨ Teacher Appreciation Week – Day Three! ✨🍦

Day three of Teacher Appreciation Week was pretty sweet thanks to our amazing PTO-hosted Ice Cream Social! 💙🐆 Teachers had the opportunity to relax, connect with one another, and enjoy a delicious sweet treat together. 🍨

There was also a fun drawing filled with wonderful prizes that were purchased by PTO or generously donated by supporters of our school community. 🎁✨

Thank you to our PTO and everyone who contributed to making our staff feel so appreciated this week. Your kindness and support mean so much to all of us! 💛

🌮🎉 Teacher Appreciation – Day Two = DELICIOUS! 🎉🌮

Day two of Teacher Appreciation Week was extra yummy! A HUGE thank you to our incredible PTO for treating our staff to some of the best Mexican food in town—Los Chachos! 💙🐆

We might be a little biased since this amazing family is part of our JJ, Mountain Sky, and Thunderbird community—but truly, the agua frescas, tacos, quesadillas, rice, and beans were fresh and absolutely delicious. And on Cinco de Mayo—perfect timing! 🇲🇽✨

Our entire staff felt so appreciated and grateful for this thoughtful meal. Thank you, PTO, for always going above and beyond to support us! 💛

School librarians do so much more than organize books—they:

We started the week off right with a delicious hosted lunch from our amazing community partner, Lindsey Brumagin with BLOCK77! 💙🐆

Many of you may remember Lindsey as Ms. Acosta, a former kindergarten and third grade teacher here at JJ! She took a leap of faith—trading in her classroom keys for keys that open new doors for families—and we couldn’t be more proud of her! 🏡✨

Even with her new journey, Lindsey has never forgotten her JJ family. She’s always one of the first to welcome us back each school year and celebrate us during this special week. 💛

In April we celebrated the incredible paraprofessionals who make a difference in every corner of our campus! 🐆

From supporting small groups and one-on-one instruction 📚, to assisting with behavior support, supervision, and daily routines, our paras do it all. They help create safe, structured, and supportive learning environments where every student can succeed. 🌟

Their patience, flexibility, and dedication ensure that students receive the individualized support they need—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our classrooms simply wouldn’t run the same without them!
