Congratulations to Shana and Brandon on saying "I do!" in my courtroom. I wish the happy couple a lifetime together of happiness, love, peace, and health!

This afternoon I had the pleasure of hosting a mock trial during the ongoing Celebrate 250 initiative by the Civil Division.

Following the mock trial on a personal injury claim, our astute and learned jury of young, engaged jurors (and two who took the bench!) entered a verdict in favor of the Plaintiff and against the Defendant.

After a brief conversation about our PA Courts, we moved to the Supreme Courtroom to learn about the space, our Supreme Court, and for a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Alexander Hamilton and our Commonwealth's very own, Benjamin Franklin.

Events similar to this help promote our Courts and the vital, independent function the judiciary plays in our system of government, while celebrating our history and providing a historical context for how and why.

Thanks to all who participated and organized the day!

This morning I was honored to interview with the PA Commission on Judicial Independence as part of their efforts to increase public awareness of the importance of independence in the judiciary and the PA Courts, including how social media can be effectively and meaningfully used to promote confidence in the judiciary.

I look forward to the finished product and am so appreciative of the opportunity, as well as to the hard-working staff who made this possible.
