POWER http://power-recovery.com More than 23 million Americans suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction, but only 11% receive treatment.

Women are the fastest-growing segment of substance users in the United States, with an estimated 2.7 million women abusing drugs or alcohol. Most women (66-90%) in treatment report histories of trauma, which may include domestic violence, early childhood sexual assault, physical abuse or neglect, loss of a child, or other traumatic experiences. Our staff is trained to understand the impact of trauma on recovery and our care reflects that understanding.

đź’ś Recovery Tip Tuesday

Recovery is made up of thousands of small victories.

Getting out of bed. Showing up for an appointment. Setting a healthy boundary. Asking for help. Making it through another day.

These moments may seem small, but together they build a stronger future.

Take a moment today to celebrate how far you’ve come—you’ve earned it.

The POWER House is being spruced up after installation of a new heating and cooling system – and the work got a big boost from Steve Tierno, professional painter and POWER volunteer, who donated his time to paint the first floor. Thank you, Steve!

Whether it’s a trusted friend, family member, peer mentor, counselor, or recovery community, meaningful connections remind us that hope grows when it’s shared.

At POWER, we believe that relationships built on trust, encouragement, and understanding can change lives.

We’re finishing up another great Artist in Residency at the POWER House. For over a decade now this project, coordinated by Mary Brenholts at the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, has brought in professional artists to develop and inspire the talents of POWER clients. Some of the work created by clients this year includes poetry and collage in Sarah Leavens’ class, printmaking in Lauren Bailey’s class, and collage and assemblage in Laura Jean McLaughlin’s. We’re looking forward to next year’s Residency!
