Our Summer Interns, Asher and Sophia, have been diligently training with District Technicians, Brittany and Jillian, on completing culvert assessments through the North Atlantic Aquatic Connectivity Collaborative (NAACC).

The interns will complete culvert assessments throughout the summer in order to:

🐟better understand aquatic organism passage.

⛈️evaluate flood risk vulnerability, severity of erosion, and physical integrity of the structures.

⚠️prioritize infrastructure upgrades and notify towns if necessary.

This past week the North Adirondack Regional Envirothon was held at the Paul Smith's College VIC in coordination with Essex Swcd, St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District. Over 150 students and volunteers from the region spent the day testing their knowledge on forestry, soils, aquatics, wildlife, and a current issue topic.
