Running a business is a blessing — but some days remind you just how quickly the plan can change.
Yesterday was one of those days.
We experienced a gas leak that required us to close the building, cancel lunch service and delay the start of dinner while we made sure everything was safe.
We are incredibly grateful to the Port Penn Fire Department for their immediate response and quick action in helping us safely clear the building, and to Sharp for identifying the source of the leak and correcting the issue so we were able to safely reopen our doors at 5 PM.
To our Augustine team — thank you. Yesterday involved a lot of unknowns, changing plans and waiting for answers. Your flexibility, patience and willingness to adjust as we figured things out meant more than you know.
And to our guests — thank you. Thank you for your patience and understanding when reservations and plans had to change, and for the calls, messages and genuine concern after hearing what happened. And then, when we were finally able to reopen our doors at 5 PM, you showed up for us. From 5–9, Augustine was incredibly busy, and after such an uncertain start to the day, seeing our dining rooms and both bars filled with familiar faces, laughter and support was something we didn’t take for granted for a second. Your constant support of Augustine means more to us than we can say.
Owning and operating a small business comes with incredible highs, unexpected challenges and plenty of days when you simply have to figure out the next right move.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Today, we're simply grateful.
Grateful everyone was safe.
Grateful for the people who showed up to help.
Grateful for our team.
And incredibly grateful for this community that continues to show up for Augustine.
Thank you. 🤍
