To educate the public in the means to access the emergency response system, minimize exposure to hazardous situations, prepare for a personal/individual emergency and or community disaster, and prevent fires and injuries; to enforce applicable codes and ordinances necessary for the health and safety of citizens and visitors. 🚒 Volunteer Training: EVOC Trailer Operations

This past Monday night, our Port Richey Volunteer Firefighters continued their training with EVOC Trailer Operations! 🚨

EVOC stands for Emergency Vehicle Operator Course. It is training designed to teach firefighters and other emergency responders how to safely operate emergency vehicles, including proper vehicle control, backing, maneuvering, braking, positioning, and operating in emergency situations.

Our volunteers dedicate their time every week to training and preparing to serve the residents and visitors of the City of Port Richey. We are proud of their commitment to learning, improving, and being ready when the call comes.

We are proud to announce that the Port Richey Fire Department has successfully completed a compliance inspection conducted by the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.

Following the inspection, our department was determined to be in compliance with the Florida Firefighters Occupational Safety and Health Act, as outlined in Florida State Statute 633.502–536.

This achievement reflects the continued dedication of our firefighters and personnel to maintaining the highest standards of safety, training, and professionalism. We remain committed to protecting our community and ensuring our members have a safe and prepared work environment.

🚒🌲 Deployed to the Front Lines Out West 🌲🚒

We are proud to share that Port Richey Fire Department Volunteer Firefighter Jayson McKay is currently deployed with the Florida Forest Service as part of an engine crew in Washington State.

Jayson is serving with an interagency initial attack engine crew, working alongside firefighters from across the country to respond to and help protect communities from wildland fires.

We are incredibly proud of Jayson for answering the call and representing the Port Richey Fire Department and the State of Florida while serving out west.

Please join us in wishing Jayson the best of luck during his deployment and, most importantly, a safe return home. Stay safe, Jayson! We are proud of you! 💪🔥🌲

🚒 Thank You, Team Equipment, Inc.! 🚒

The Port Richey Fire Department would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to Team Equipment for their generous donation of two FKIR K2 Thermal Imager Cameras to our department!

Thermal imaging cameras are an invaluable tool for our firefighters, helping us quickly locate heat sources, victims, and hazards in challenging conditions. This donation will directly enhance the safety and effectiveness of our firefighters and the service we provide to our community.

🚒 Early Morning Structure Fire

In the early morning hours today, crews from the Port Richey Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire.

Thankfully, everyone was able to safely evacuate the residence, and there were no reported injuries. Our crews worked alongside our mutual aid partners to quickly address the incident and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners at New Port Richey Fire Department and Pasco County Fire Rescue their assistance and continued partnership. Having strong relationships with our neighboring fire departments is essential when working together during emergencies. 🚒

🚒 Automatic Aid Response 🚒

During the early morning hours today, the Port Richey Fire Department responded on automatic aid to assist the New Port Richey Fire Department with a structure fire.

Automatic aid agreements allow neighboring departments to work together, ensuring the closest available resources respond quickly when every second counts. By working side by side, firefighters can provide a faster, safer, and more effective response to emergencies throughout our communities.

We are proud to stand alongside our partners at the New Port Richey Fire Department and remain committed to protecting the residents and visitors of both of our communities.

Thank you to all of the first responders who worked together to bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

🚒 Did You Know? 🚒

Our dedicated Port Richey Fire Department Volunteers meet every Monday evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM for hands-on training!

From firefighting skills and EMS topics to rescue techniques and equipment familiarization, our volunteers are constantly sharpening their knowledge and abilities to better serve our community. Training ensures they are always prepared to answer the call when an emergency happens.

Our volunteers donate countless hours of their personal time to train, respond to emergencies, and support the department. Their commitment and dedication play a vital role in helping keep the City of Port Richey safe.

🌊 Water Rescue Response

Yesterday, during the passing storms, the Port Richey Fire Department and the Port Richey Police Department responded together to two separate water rescue incidents. Both incidents were safely resolved.

As we continue through Florida's Scallop Season, we encourage everyone to make safety their top priority before heading out on the water. Summer weather can change rapidly, and storms can develop with little warning.

Before you leave the dock:

🌦️ Check the latest weather forecast and monitor conditions throughout your trip.
🦺 Ensure everyone on board has a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket.
📱 Carry a charged cell phone or VHF marine radio for emergencies.
⛈️ If storms begin to develop, head to shore immediately and do not wait until conditions worsen.
⚓ Let someone know your boating plans and expected return time.

The Port Richey Fire Department is proud to work alongside our public safety partners to provide rapid emergency response and protect our residents and visitors.

🌊⚓ Training to Better Serve Our Community

Last week, members of the Port Richey Fire Department had the opportunity to train alongside the United States Coast Guard, strengthening the skills needed to safely and effectively respond to emergencies on the water.

Throughout the training, our crews reviewed and practiced:
🛥️ Vessel navigation
🔍 Search patterns
🛟 Man overboard drills

This hands-on training helps ensure our personnel are prepared for a wide variety of marine emergencies, allowing us to provide the highest level of service to those who live, work, and recreate on our local waterways.

We are incredibly thankful for the continued collaboration and partnership with the United States Coast Guard. Working together and sharing knowledge makes all of our agencies stronger and ultimately benefits the community we proudly serve.

Thank you to the Coast Guard for your professionalism, expertise, and commitment to training with our crews. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership!

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the 250th anniversary of American independence.

As you gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely:

🎇 Attend a professional fireworks display whenever possible.
🔥 Keep fireworks away from children and pets.
🚒 Have a bucket of water or hose nearby if using legal consumer fireworks.
🏡 Never discharge fireworks near homes, dry grass, or vehicles.
📞 In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
