Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore endorses State Representative Edith H. Ajello for re-election in House District 1.

“I'm proud to endorse my friend and former House colleague, Edie Ajello, for reelection as State Representative in Providence's District 1,” said Secretary Amore.

“I served alongside Edie in the House, and I saw firsthand how seriously she takes the responsibility of representing her constituents. She does her homework, works to understand all legislation, listens to the testimony, and asks the tough questions. And she has never been afraid to stand up for what she believes is right.

“As Secretary of State, I've also had the opportunity to work with Edie on protecting our elections and expanding access to the ballot. She understands that our democracy works best when people can participate and when their voices are heard.

“Edie is thoughtful, principled, and deeply committed to the people she represents. I'm proud to support her, and I hope the voters of House District 1 will support Edie Ajello for reelection in the Democratic primary on September 9.”

Secretary Amore joins a growing coalition supporting Ajello's re-election, including Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island, NEA Rhode Island, the Rhode Island AFL-CIO, SEIU 1199 New England, Climate Action Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Working Families Party, the National Association of Social Workers PACE, and the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence.

The Democratic Primary will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Rhode Islanders can vote by mail, early in person, or on Election Day; make a plan at vote.ri.gov.

I am honored to serve with some great colleagues. An important part of brining an effective legislator is being able to build alliances and coalitions to get good things done. I am proud of the friends and amazing individuals I have met during my service in the House of Representatives.

I am so proud to have the support of the SEIU 1199 New England the healthcare workers and caregivers themselves. It means a great deal to me.

This year we secured $115 million to raise Medicaid rates, so Rhode Island can recruit and keep the nurses, aides, and home care workers our families depend on. The people who care for us should be able to care for their own families on what they earn. We must raise wages and lower costs for our essential workers and all Rhode Islanders dealing with the affordability crisis.

No one who cares for other people should be without healthcare, housing, childcare, and a secure financial future. I will not stop working until that is a reality for all working people in Rhode Island.

9/9/26.My mother used to tell me: "Don't complain about it. Do something about it."

That's been my rule at the State House. When our rights are threatened, whether by powerful interests here at home or by Washington, I don't complain. I do the work: protecting and expanding civil rights for every Rhode Islander.

Over the next two weeks I'll share what that work has looked like and the impact we've had for Rhode Islanders.

Standing up for the people who need help most. That's the job. 💜

I am proud to be endorsed by the Rhode Island AFL-CIO

This year we passed a tax on income over a million dollars, $115 million to raise Medicaid rates and rebuild our healthcare workforce, and a new $330-per-child tax credit for working families.

Thank you to Climate Action Rhode Island for endorsing our campaign.

I've taken on the fossil fuel industry and supported Act on Climate, given neighborhoods a voice in transit decisions, protected forests while growing solar, and help expand more cost effective renewable energy sources. Now I am working to make our utility answer to ratepayers, not shareholders.

The climate fight is also a fairness fight. It matters most to the neighborhoods closest to the pollution and to families deciding between the electric bill and groceries.
