The United Across RI Tour has officially launched and Hopkinton Day was the perfect first stop!

Horse drawn hay rides, delicious local food, and so much town pride on full display. United Way of Rhode Island loved connecting with the community and feeling the energy that makes Hopkinton unique. The Centennial tour is on the move and Hopkinton set the tone perfectly.

Rhode Island, we will see you at the next one. πŸŽ‰

Rhode Island Energy knows that taking care of this state does not stop at the meter.

United Way of Rhode Island is proud to recognize Rhode Island Energy as a Top 10 Workplace Campaign Supporter of 2026. Through their employee giving campaign, Rhode Island Energy is directly supporting access to food, housing, health, and financial stability for families across the state. That is a company showing up for the communities where their people live and work.

Thank you to Rhode Island Energy and every employee who gave. Rhode Island feels it. πŸ’™

On June 1, 2007, 211 launched in Rhode Island with four employees and a corner office. Nineteen years later, it answers 200,000 calls a year.

The roots go even deeper. 211 was built on a helpline created in 1991 in response to a Rhode Island banking crisis. That same helpline showed up during the Station Nightclub Fire, Hurricane Katrina, the 2010 floods, and a global pandemic. It grew into nine specialized programs, the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), and a statewide network that meets Rhode Islanders wherever they are.

Happy 19th anniversary to 211 and 35 years of helpline services in Rhode Island.

A special thank you to Courtney, Cristina, Kyle, and Paula for helping build something that Rhode Island cannot do without. πŸ’™

27,863 books collected at the Day of Action on June 6. That is all thanks to you. πŸ™Œ

162 volunteers and 60-plus community partners showed up alongside Books Are Wings and made it happen. In 14 years, this community has collected over 400,000 books for Rhode Island children. And this year, 2,605 books that could not be redistributed were responsibly recycled, keeping them out of landfills.

Every book collected is a gift of knowledge. Every volunteer hour moved this forward. Thank you for showing up, Rhode Island. πŸ’™

Some projects leave a mark far beyond the day they happen.

Across Rhode Island, that can look like the energy of 401Gives, the shared effort behind Day of Action, the steady generosity of the Children’s Book Drive, or the practical support made possible through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Workplace Giving Campaigns.

Different moments. Different kinds of giving. The same spirit of Rhode Islanders showing up for one another. For 100 years, United Way Rhode Island has helped connect that spirit to work that reaches communities across the state.

Free tax filing exists in Rhode Island because partners like Webster Bank show up for it.

United Way of Rhode Island is grateful to Webster Bank for a $15,000 grant supporting VITA, the free tax filing program connecting Rhode Islanders to the refunds and credits they have already earned. This funding keeps the volunteers, training, and operations running that make free tax filing available to anyone who needs it across the state.

Thank you, Webster Bank. Rhode Island's families feel this one. πŸ’™

A lot of Rhode Islanders are hearing that something changed with their SNAP benefits and are not sure what it means for them.

New work requirements are now in effect for some adults ages 18 to 64. Whether this applies to you depends on your household, your situation, and whether an exemption covers you. The rules have specifics and the specifics matter.

If there is any uncertainty about where you stand, one call gets answers. No paperwork. No wait. Just a real person who knows the system and can help you figure out next steps.

Call or text 211. Free. Confidential. Available 24 hours a day. πŸ’™
