Ava, a student at The Carter School, was the DJ at one of the most special events we've heard about in a long time. With help from Allison, one of her Speech-Language Pathologists here at The Carter School, Ava used her Tobii device to DJ a Celebration of Life for her mom, Stephanie.
DJing is something Ava has been doing for a few years now. Using eye gaze technology, she can select songs, press play, pause, and skip. On Sunday, the other DJ connected her device to his speakers via bluetooth so she could do it for a room full of people celebrating someone they loved. She played mostly Michael Buble, with a special focus on Dad's and Auntie's favorites, because that's just who Ava is.
Ava's family turned the Celebration of Life into a fundraiser for The Carter School in Stephanie's memory, raising over $3,000.
We are just so proud of Ava, and so moved by what her family did. Thank you for letting us be part of honoring Stephanie.
