More than 9,000 Rhode Islanders have experienced the life-changing impact of our Medical Debt Relief Program, with over $16 million in medical debt erased.

But behind every number is a real person with a real story.

These stories remind us that medical debt doesn't just affect finances—it affects families, peace of mind, and the ability to move forward.

Rhode Island is Expanding Support for Victims of Crime. ⚖️

I joined Governor Dan McKee for the ceremonial signing of four important bills that strengthen support for crime victims and survivors in Rhode Island.

These new laws are:
• Expand eligibility for victims of hit-and-run crashes.
• Expand crime victim compensation to survivors of stalking.
• Increase the relocation assistance cap for victims seeking safety.
• Revoke public pensions from officials convicted of certain crimes committed in the course of their public duties.

Together, these measures represent another step toward a more compassionate and accountable state. I want to thank Governor McKee, the advocates, survivors, legislators, and law enforcement whose dedication made these important protections possible.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to the bill sponsors who championed this legislation: Rep. Furtado, Sen. LaMountain, Rep. Voas, Rep. Diaz, Sen. Gallo, Chair Hagan McEntee, and Chair DiPalma.

As the world came to Rhode Island this summer, our state showed exactly who we are.

From welcoming fans from every corner of the globe to supporting local businesses, volunteers, and communities, Rhode Islanders proved that our greatest strength isn’t our size—it’s our heart.

“This program is about more than eliminating debt, it’s about giving people peace of mind, restoring financial stability, and ensuring that a medical emergency does not become a lifelong financial burden,” Diossa said in a statement. “We are proud to continue investing in initiatives that improve lives and create greater economic opportunity for all Rhode Islanders.”

Buying a first home is one of the biggest milestones in life and RI AnchorHome is helping make that dream a reality for more Rhode Islanders. ⚓🏠

Since launching in December 2025, 89 first-time homebuyers have purchased homes in communities across our state through RI AnchorHome.

By partnering with Rhode Island banks and credit unions, we're expanding access to affordable homeownership and helping families build long-term financial security.
