Congratulations to Sheriff David J. Lucero for his work and dedication as a member of the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) board.
Attorney General Phil Weiser recognized Sheriff Lucero for his dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the POST board.
Governor Jared Polis appointed Sheriff Lucero to the POST Board in 2023, and during his tenure, he has helped shape Colorado’s peace officer standards.
The POST Board is composed of lay members, professionals, and experts within the law and law enforcement communities. The board makes decisions on policy and advises POST staff on the day-to-day operations of the unit.
Thank you, Sheriff Lucero, for your commitment to professional excellence and ongoing improvement of law enforcement training and standards in Colorado.

Making a Splash!
SRO Deputy David Morey did more than just show up to support the students and staff at Desert Sage Elementary School at the recent Falcon Fall Festival – he took the plunge.
Deputy Morey hopped into the dunk tank and allowed students to take a chance at “Dunking the Deputy” while raising money for the school community.
Shoutout to Deputy Morey for taking the dunk, supporting students, and showing our community spirit.

We are seeking the public’s help in locating Corena Bridgewater, 16, who has been reported as a runaway.
Corena was last seen at her home in Pueblo West on August 8.
She is 5-foot-7, 100 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. She recently cut her hair shorter.
Corena may be staying with someone on Pueblo’s East Side.

We have recently received some calls from residents reporting that they’ve received aggressive phone calls from someone impersonating a sheriff’s deputy, falsely claiming the individual has an outstanding warrant for failing to report to jury duty. The caller threatens the individual with arrest if they don’t pay a fine.
Don’t fall for it! It’s a scam!
We and other law enforcement agencies would never call to tell you about an outstanding warrant and we would never ask for payment for the warrant and never over the phone.
Don't give personal or financial information over the phone unless you are certain that it is a reputable source.
If you are not sure if a call is legitimate, hang up and call the department or agency to verify the legitimacy of the call.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office’s Specialized Policing Enforcement Apprehension and Reconnaissance Team (SPEAR) arrested a 29-year-old Pueblo West man on a warrant in a child s*x assault case.
Derek Franklin was arrested Tuesday by SPEAR members on the felony warrant for s*xual assault on a child in a position of trust. He was booked into the Pueblo County Jail, where he remains on a $50,000 bond.
Sheriff’s detectives did an excellent job investigating the incident and obtained an arrest warrant for Franklin. Great work by all involved in this case.
