April is Autism Awareness Month. Autism has many faces; some instantly recognizable, some more subtle. Autism has always been around but the diagnosis is still fairly new, medically speaking. With this diagnosis there has been a move beyond awareness to acceptance. More activities, more schools, more community support. But, as many families with autistic children may tell us, still not enough. Please help with this movement toward acceptance by treating families who are affected with the same grace and kindness as anyone else. A smile goes a long way.
