QED Technologies, a leading manufacturer of advanced capital equipment for precision optics fabrication and metrology, and a precision optics fabricator, completed its $18.7 million expansion in Rochester, adding 72 new jobs to its workforce. The company holds a unique niche in the market as the world’s sole commercial producer of magnetorheological finishing (MRF), a repeatable, deterministic process for polishing optics that eliminates human error.

Demand for QED Technologies equipment is growing within high-tech industries, including semiconductor fabrication, aerospace, defense, and astronomy. Today, QED Technologies leaders and economic development partners cut the ribbon on this new customer experience center to support this tremendous growth. Today marked a critical next step toward establishing a new RochesterWorks Career Center at Monroe Community College’s Downtown campus. This new $14.5 million facility, set to open in fall 2027, will further support business growth throughout the region.
