Our deepest condolences to the Davis and Slater families as well as Belcourt Rural Fire Department
It is with extremely heavy hearts that the Belcourt Rural Fire Department shares the sudden and tragic passing of one of our own Volunteer Firefighter, Jayton Slater, in the early morning hours today.
Jayton was more than a firefighter to our department. He was a brother, a friend, and a light in our station. He carried a kindness that touched everyone around him. He was funny, happy, and always found a way to make others smile, even on the hardest days. If Jayton was ever struggling himself, none of us would have known because he always made it a point to check in on everyone else first. That was the kind of person he was, selfless, caring, and genuine.
Our department and our entire community mourn not only the loss of Jayton but also the loss of Kelly Davis. This is a heartbreaking day for so many families, friends, and loved ones throughout our community.
During this incredibly difficult time, we ask everyone to keep both the Slater and Davis families in your thoughts and prayers. We also ask that our community come together for one another with compassion, love, and support as we navigate this tragedy together.
Rest easy, Jayton. Your laughter, your heart, and your presence at the station will never be forgotten. We’ll take it from here, brother.
