๐Ÿป BLACK BEAR ALERT ๐Ÿป

The Rye Police Department has received reports of black bears in town. Please use caution and give bears plenty of space if you encounter one.

โœ… Bring bird feeders inside or remove them temporarily
โœ… Secure trash cans and store them indoors when possible
โœ… Keep a close eye on children and pets when outdoors
โœ… Never approach, feed, or attempt to photograph a bear at close range

New Hampshire Fish & Game is aware of the sightings and is monitoring the situation.

Black bears are generally shy and will usually move away from people, but they can become accustomed to food sources left outside. Helping to eliminate attractants is the best way to encourage bears to move on naturally.

If you see a bear, remain calm, keep your distance, and allow it a clear path to leave the area.

Stay alert and help keep both our community and wildlife safe.

๐Ÿพโ˜€๏ธ BEACH DAYS ARE FOR EVERYONE โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿพ

As the summer season kicks off, hereโ€™s a reminder about our town beach dog regulations:

๐Ÿ“… From the Saturday before Memorial Day (5/23) until the Saturday after Labor Day (9/12):
๐Ÿšซ Dogs are prohibited on town beaches between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

๐ŸŒฒ Please also remember:
๐Ÿšซ Dogs are NOT allowed in state parks at any time, day or night.

We love our four-legged friends and appreciate everyone helping keep our beaches safe, clean, and enjoyable for all residents and visitors. ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ

If youโ€™re heading out with your pup, be sure to look for pet-friendly areas and always clean up after your dog. ๐Ÿฆด๐Ÿพ

Thank you for your cooperation and have a safe, fun summer!

Sunday May 10th marked the beginning of 2026. National Police Week is observed this year during the week of May 10th - May 16th. During this week, we remember all our brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties.

โ€œIn 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.โ€

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš™ SPRING is here, which means beach season is right around the corner! Beach permit parking is in effect starting today, May 1st, and will remain enforced until October 1st. Signs are up at ALL permit parking areas in town. If you are a resident, please ensure you purchase your 2026 beach sticker (all previous years are void) and affix it to your vehicle before heading to the beach permit areas. Please note that permits are only for purchase by Rye residents/property owners. They can be purchased at the Town Hall Annex on Washington Rd. Please ensure your permit is affixed to your rear windshield in the lower, left-hand corner. Should you have a convertible or removable top vehicle, you do run the risk of receiving a ticket if it is not visible to parking staff! Any vehicle without a permit will be subject to ticketing.๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš™
