This little nugget was found wondering the area of Grove Road near Garland Road. They may be a little camera shy, but they sure do love to go on walks… AA Schwartz is getting her steps in today. If anyone knows the PAWrents of little nugget, please contact RPD at 603-964-7450.

The Rye Police Department is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Sgt. Brian J. Ross of the New Hampshire State Police.

Sgt. Ross dedicated 19 years of his life to serving the people of New Hampshire with unwavering courage, professionalism, and integrity. His service and leadership left a lasting impact on countless colleagues and the communities he protected.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sgt. Ross’ wife, three children, loved ones, and every member of the New Hampshire State Police. During this incredibly difficult time, we stand with our law enforcement family as we honor his life, service, and sacrifice.

Please keep Sgt. Ross’ family, friends, and fellow Troopers in your thoughts.

Rest easy, Sergeant. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will live on.

Colonel Mark B. Hall regrets to announce the unexpected death of Sgt. Brian J. Ross, a 19-year veteran of the New Hampshire State Police.

Sgt. Ross began his career as a patrol Trooper in Troop A and went on to fulfill a variety of entrusted roles, including assignments with the Major Crime Unit, the Special Events Response Team and the Motorcycle Unit. In recent years, he served as the Commander of the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit.

Our hearts are broken by this loss. Sgt. Ross served the people of New Hampshire with courage and integrity, and all of us will miss him greatly. We ask everyone to join us in offering his family, including his wife and three children, the support and privacy they deserve at this time.

🐻 BLACK BEAR ALERT 🐻

The Rye Police Department has received reports of black bears in town. Please use caution and give bears plenty of space if you encounter one.

✅ Bring bird feeders inside or remove them temporarily
✅ Secure trash cans and store them indoors when possible
✅ Keep a close eye on children and pets when outdoors
✅ Never approach, feed, or attempt to photograph a bear at close range

New Hampshire Fish & Game is aware of the sightings and is monitoring the situation.

Black bears are generally shy and will usually move away from people, but they can become accustomed to food sources left outside. Helping to eliminate attractants is the best way to encourage bears to move on naturally.

If you see a bear, remain calm, keep your distance, and allow it a clear path to leave the area.

Stay alert and help keep both our community and wildlife safe.
