This is the official page for the California State Board of Optometry.

The California State Board of Optometry (Board) regulates the practice of optometry through licensing and enforcement. The Board’s mission is to serve the public and optometrists by promoting and enforcing laws and regulations which protect the health and safety of California’s consumers and to ensure high-quality care. The Board provides continuing education so that licensees can remain current on emerging trends and industry changes and conducts public outreach to inform consumers about the eye and vision care programs and services available to them. The Department of Consumer Affairs licenses more than 2.5 million professionals in more than 240 categories; everything from accountants to boxers to security guards and veterinarians. When was your last eye exam?
Eye exams do way more than check for blurry vision, they help keep your eyes healthy and can catch issues early.

The California State Board of Optometry encourages everyone to make regular eye care part of their wellness routine. If it’s been a while, it might be time to schedule a visit with a licensed optometrist.

You can quickly verify an optometrist’s California license through the Department of Consumer Affairs’ License Search.
