Holy hidden license plate, Batman! 🦸

An Officer observed what appeared to be a gadget straight out of a comic book attached to a vehicle’s license plate.

At the press of a button, the license plate disappeared from view, making it impossible for anyone to read it, or in this case, a bridge toll-booth.

If you aren’t wearing a cape driving the Batmobile, it might be time to rethink your modifications.

The first CHP State Capitol Explorer Challenge since 2019 is officially in the books!

Explorer teams from across California came together to compete, build leadership skills, strengthen teamwork, and challenge themselves through a series of law enforcement-based scenarios and events.

This weekend marked more than just competition; it was a chance to reconnect, learn, and continue building the next generation of leaders in public service. Congratulations to all participants, advisors, and volunteers who helped make the return of the Explorer Challenge a success.

We’re proud of the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork displayed throughout the event. 👏

CHP celebrated the 90th birthday of retired CHP Lieutenant Mervin "Merv" Humes, badge #4382, with a special fly-along aboard H-20 over the Sacramento area.

A former CHP helicopter pilot, Mervin dedicated his career to serving the people of California and helping shape CHP aviation. After flying helicopters early in his career, he played a key role in establishing the CHP helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft program in Sacramento. Commissioner Sean Duryee and Assistant Commissioner Robin Johnson joined his family in recognizing this special milestone and celebrating a lifetime of service, dedication, and contributions to the Department.

Today, we stand with the Los Angeles Police Department and the officer who was struck in the chest during today’s shooting incident.

We are grateful to hear the officer is in stable condition and wish them a full recovery. Incidents like this are a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day and why safety must remain a priority in every decision we make.

Our thoughts are with the officer, their loved ones, and the entire LAPD family.

A carjacking suspect led officers on a pursuit that began in Fontana and stretched all the way to Lynwood, near Compton, before CHP officers brought it to a safe conclusion.

When the suspect refused to surrender, CHP units blocked the vehicle and prevented any further danger to the public. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot, but a CHP K-9 quickly stepped in and helped bring the incident to an end.

One stolen vehicle recovered. One suspect in custody. Another example of teamwork, training, and determination keeping California communities safe. Great work !🐾🚔
