Board of Education Snack Cart Is Back! ๐ŸŽ

Our Board of Education kicked off the school year by bringing back a sweet way to show appreciation for our staffโ€”the Board of Education Snack Cart!

Board Vice President Josh Gettinger, Board Member Jim Kirchner and Board Member Phil Kwan recently made the rounds with a cart full of treats, stopping by Bloomsdale Elementary, the Bus Depot and the Early Childhood Center to welcome staff back and thank them for all they do for our students and families.

Throughout the school year, Board members will continue taking turns with the cart and visiting our schools, bringing along snacks and a personal thank-you for our SG R-II team.

What a fun way to start the year and show our staff a little extra appreciation! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฒ

๐Ÿ“ฃ Congratulations to SGHS Head Girls Wrestling Coach Jared Bonnell, who has been selected as the 2025-2026 MSHSAA/NFHS Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year! ๐Ÿคผโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿฒ

Coach Bonnell was surprised with the honor Friday night before our first home football game! Daryl Bradley, MSHSAA Assistant Executive Director for Wrestling, presented him with the award on the 50-yard line, surrounded by his family, colleagues, fellow SG R-II coaches and student wrestlers.

Each year, MSHSAA and NFHS recognize one coach in each sport in Missouri who exemplifies the best of education-based athletics โ€” demonstrating character, integrity and sportsmanship while serving as a positive role model for student-athletes.

As Missouriโ€™s Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year, Coach Bonnell is now eligible for consideration for NFHS Section Coach of the Year and National Coach of the Year honors!

Please join us in congratulating Coach Bonnell on this incredible achievement! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿฒ

Weโ€™re excited to share that Ste. Genevieve Elementary School occupational therapist Kari Buerck and speech-language pathologist Ashley Regelsperger recently received a $500 PEERS Maggie Elders Grant through the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and Foundation (MRTA-F) for their new project, โ€œFun Food Friday!โ€ โœจ SG R-II will match the grant, providing a total of $1,000 to help get the program cooking!

Through this weekly cooking group, special education students will get hands-on practice building communication and essential life skills while following recipes, making choices, learning new vocabulary, taking turns and preparing food. Students will also work on fine motor skills, coordination and independence along the way!

Grant funds will help purchase cooking supplies, adaptive utensils and ingredients for the weekly activities.

MRTA Region 11 Vice President Denise Wright and associate MRTA member Dale Wright presented the grant to Mrs. Buerck and Mrs. Regelsperger.

๐Ÿ‘ Congratulations to these two SGE educators, and we canโ€™t wait to see โ€œFun Food Fridayโ€ in action! ๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿฒ
