Glass does not belong in your curbside recycling cart!

Glass is not accepted in the City of Salisbury's curbside recycling program. Glass can break during collection and processing, creating safety hazards and contaminating other recyclable materials.

Instead, take glass bottles and jars to a Rowan County Convenience Center for proper recycling. To learn more about the convenience centers, visit rowancountync.gov/533/Recycling

Keep recyclables loose, never bag your recycling!

Placing recyclables in plastic bags is one of the most common causes of contamination. At the recycling facility, items must be loose so they can be sorted properly. Plastic bags can wrap around equipment, causing delays and damage to the sorting machines.

Empty your recyclables directly into your curbside recycling cart, no plastic bags needed!

Yard waste does not belong in your curbside recycling cart.

Leaves, grass clippings, branches, and other yard waste are collected separately and should never be placed in your recycling cart. Keeping yard waste out of recycling helps ensure recyclable materials can be properly processed.

A clear catch basin can make a big difference!

Catch basins help carry stormwater away from streets and neighborhoods, reducing the risk of localized flooding. If you live near a catch basin, you can help by clearing away leaves, grass clippings, and other debris that may be blocking the grate, especially before and after heavy rain.

By keeping storm drains clear, you're helping reduce flooding and protect our local waterways.

No food waste in curbside recycling!

Before placing recyclable materials in your blue cart, make sure they are empty and give them a quick rinse. Food residue can contaminate other recyclables, causing mold and making valuable materials unsuitable for recycling.

Yard Waste Collection Update 🌿

Our crews are working hard to collect the increased amount of yard waste throughout the city. Due to the large volume of storm debris, we can only collect a certain amount each week.

If your yard waste was not fully collected, please continue to leave it at the curb. Our crews will return to collect it on your next regularly scheduled collection day. As always, please have your yard waste at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as our crews work through the additional storm-related debris.
