This month, we honored Gun Violence Awareness Month by standing with survivors, advocates, and community leaders to raise awareness and call for action on gun safety. ✊🏽

I was proud to join Big Mama’s Safe House and Mom’s Demand Action at their Wear Orange event, recognizing the lives impacted by gun violence and uplifting the work being done every day to build safer communities. Thank you all for the incredible work you do in our community and for your relentless advocacy. 🧡

Today during City Council A Session, we celebrated the Army’s 251st birthday.🎂 In doing so, we also honored the life of a District 5 resident and army veteran, Hilario Vara III. Hilario dedicated his life to service, after graduating from Burbank HS, and committed that same service to his community. Thank you to Xavier Vara and family for coming out to A Session, sharing your father’s story with us, and for continuing to carry on Hilario’s legacy. 🩵

This Bike Month, I am proud to celebrate San Antonio's incredible cycling community. From advocating for safer streets to showing up for one another in moments of joy and remembrance, this community always looks out for its own. Thank you to ActivateSA, AAMPO, Ghisallo Cycling, and SATX Social Ride for your leadership and partnership to protecting and uplifting cyclists across our city. I remain committed to working with City departments to improve infrastructure and advance public safety measures that make our streets safer for residents. 🚲
