Okay I had to make this video. πŸ˜„

I keep getting introduced as an accountant or a CPA and that is just not what I am.

This is part one of a three part series breaking down the difference between a bookkeeper, an accountant, and a CPA.

A bookkeeper is the person who keeps your financial records clean and organized every single month. Every dollar in. Every dollar out. Payroll, receipts, bank reconciliations β€” all of it.

We build the financial foundation your entire business runs on.
I am not just any bookkeeper β€” I am a Certified Bookkeeper. That is a real credential and it matters. πŸ“š

Part two is coming. Stay tuned because we are talking accountants next.

You close a job. Money hits the account. You feel good.

But before you spend a single dollar here is what already has a claim on that money.

Taxes β€” the IRS is expecting 25 to 30 percent of your net income whether you set it aside or not.

Materials β€” if you have upcoming jobs the supplies needed are already a committed expense even if you have not bought them yet.

Payroll β€” if you have employees or subs that money is due on a schedule that does not care how slow business is.

Overhead β€” insurance, fuel, tools, software β€” showing up every single month without asking.

By the time everything that is already spoken for comes out of that balance you might have a fraction of what you thought you had.

The bank said one number. The real number is something else entirely.

This is not a hustle problem. This is a visibility problem. And clean books fix it.

Real talk.

If you are looking at your bank account to decide whether your business is doing well β€” you are not getting the full picture.

That number is not your profit. It is not your safety net. And it is definitely not the truth about where your business actually stands.

Right now the phones are ringing. The jobs are booked. The money is coming in and everything feels good.

But summer does not last forever.

For most trades business owners winter means fewer calls, slower cash flow, and a lot of stress if you did not plan ahead during the busy months.

The decisions you make with your money right now β€” during your peak season β€” will determine how comfortable or how stressful your slow season looks.

Here is what smart trades business owners do during busy season:
πŸ’° Set aside a percentage of every job for taxes
πŸ“‹ Keep books clean and current so nothing surprises you later
🏦 Build a buffer in your business account for slower months
πŸ“Š Track which jobs are actually profitable so you can price better next year

Busy season is not just about making money. It is about keeping it.

If you want help setting up a system that protects your income during peak season and prepares you for the slow down β€” reach out today. That is exactly what we do.

Long day. Books balanced. Bra off. πŸ˜‚

This is what running a business actually looks like behind the scenes.

No glamour. No filter. Just a woman who did the work, handled her clients, and is officially clocked out for the evening.

To every woman building something of her own β€” the freedom to end your day exactly like this is worth every hard moment it took to get here. πŸ˜„

Let us have an honest conversation for a second.

Getting paid in cash feels good. It is immediate, it is simple, and it is easy to think of it as money that just stays between you and your client.

But here is the truth β€” cash income is still income. And the IRS expects every dollar of it to be reported on your tax return.

Whether you got paid by check, card, Venmo, Cash App, or a literal envelope of cash on the job site β€” it is all taxable. All of it.

And here is what a lot of trades business owners do not realize β€” the IRS has ways of identifying unreported income that go beyond just 1099 forms. Bank deposits, lifestyle audits, and information return matching are all tools they use.

Not reporting cash income is not a gray area. It is a risk that can result in back taxes, penalties, and interest that cost you far more than the original tax bill ever would have.

The good news is the fix is simple. Track every payment. Record every job. Keep your books clean.

That is where we come in. Reach out today and let us set up a system that makes tracking cash income simple and stress free.

Let me properly introduce myself β€” because if you are new here you deserve to know who you are actually dealing with. πŸ˜„

My name is Suheily and I am the founder of First Fruit Financial Management.

I am a Certified Bookkeeper based in San Antonio Texas and I specialize in bookkeeping, tax preparation, and payroll for small business owners, sole proprietors, and owner-operators β€” especially those in the trades industry.

But here is what does not show up on a business card.

I did not always know this was my calling. My background is actually in the medical field. I went to college for medical administration, got certifications in medical billing, coding, phlebotomy, and x-ray β€” and the moment I started working with patients I knew it was not for me.

I eventually found my place at the University of Miami overseeing the billing for the pediatric department, oncology department, and credit card processing. That is where the finance side of me came alive.

But life had other plans. I moved from Florida to Texas for a reset and never looked back.

I kept going back to the medical field because it was what I knew. But I could not keep a job for more than three months. At the time it felt like failure. Now I know it was God not letting me settle.

When I finally let go I wrote down everything I wanted in a perfect entrepreneurial life β€” the schedule, the work, the income, the freedom. This was before ChatGPT so I put it all into Google and what came up was bookkeeping.

The next day I signed up for a college course. And the rest is history.

I know that is backwards. Most people have the skill first. But that is exactly how I know this was not my plan β€” it was Gods.

I started this business because I believe in generational wealth. But more than that I started it because in our community β€” especially within minority communities β€” we do not talk about money. And that silence is costing us.

The Bible says my people perish for lack of knowledge. That is exactly what financial silence does. It keeps us stuck, underprepared, and passing down the same cycles to the next generation.

I am here to change that. Not by telling you what to do with your personal business β€” but by making sure you have the knowledge and the tools to make better decisions for yourself and your family.

If you are a small business owner who is great at your craft but overwhelmed by the financial side β€” you are exactly who I am here for.
