Popular "first day" signs listing your child’s school, teacher, bus stop, or age can inadvertently share too much with strangers.

Quick tips for safe sharing:
❌ Skip personal details: Leave out school names, teacher, bus stop, age, or favorite hobbies.
🏠 Watch the background: Avoid house numbers, street signs, or recognizable landmarks.
🔒 Privacy limits: Remember private posts can still be saved or reshared.
🎒 Focus on the smile: Show off their outfit or backpack instead!

Strong partnerships are essential to creating safer communities for children.

This summer, ChildSafe was proud to partner with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department during the Children's Crisis Intervention Team Training series, providing education for School Resource Officers and First Responders throughout San Antonio.

Our Director of Community Awareness, Anna Munoz, and Director of Forensic Services, Samuel Abrego, presented on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder & Child Sexual Exploitation, equipping attendees with trauma-informed strategies to better recognize and respond to the needs of children experiencing trauma.

We are thankful to the Bexar County, Texas - Government Juvenile Probation Department for fostering opportunities that bring professionals together to strengthen our collective response to children and families.

A Legacy of Healing, Made Possible by Harvey Najim

Thanks to the generous $1 million gift from Harvey E. Najim, ChildSafe has made significant progress toward the final phase of funding for the Harvey Najim Children and Family Center. His belief in our mission continues to strengthen the foundation of a place where children and families find healing every day.

Now, we are inviting companies, foundations, civic groups, and churches to join him in this effort. Naming rights within the Center help complete the final phase of funding, securing a permanent home where children and families will find healing, support, and hope for years to come.

Congratulations to our Forensic Services Manager, Erik Mata, on being recognized as our MDT Partner Spotlight of the Month! 💙

Recently, our multidisciplinary team encountered several highly complex and uncommon cases scheduled on the same day. Throughout it all, Erik navigated every challenge with professionalism, determination, and grace.

No matter how quickly circumstances changed, Erik remained focused on what mattered most—ensuring every child received the support, advocacy, and care they deserved. Always willing to step in wherever he's needed, Erik truly went above and beyond.

We are excited to announce that ChildSafe has been selected to receive a Blue Impact grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas for our Community-Based Family Advocacy program!

Our Community-Based Family Advocacy team meets families where they are, often in their own homes, to help address immediate needs like food, housing, and other essential resources. From there, our bilingual advocates work alongside parents, connecting them to counseling, health care, and community resources while helping build safer, stronger homes for their children.

We are grateful to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas for supporting ChildSafe and investing in programs that strengthen families and create brighter, healthier futures for children impacted by abuse and neglect.
