Grateful to Chinese for Affirmative Action and community partners—Family Support Services, Community Youth Center, Chinese Progressive Association, and the Immigrant Parent Voting Collaborative—for hosting a fantastic candidate forum at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School!

It was a privilege to speak directly with parents and community members about supporting our immigrant families. From the historic legacy of Lau v. Nichols to the everyday challenges our students face today, ensuring language access and equal opportunity remains ongoing work.

Together, let’s build a better, more accountable school district for all of our kids! 💙

What happened to a Chinese American special-education student at Lincoln High is horrifying. According to KTSF’s reporting, this was not his first experience with bullying.

SFUSD cannot publicly disclose private student information, and it shouldn’t. But privacy does not prevent the district from explaining how it responds when a student is attacked, whether earlier reports were handled properly, and what it is doing to keep students safe.

This is also a moment for Black and Asian families to reject the old trap of being pitted against each other. We can demand protection and justice for this student without blaming an entire community for the actions of individuals.

I grew up attending public schools on San Francisco’s Westside. Families should be able to trust that when a child is being bullied—especially a student who may have greater difficulty speaking up or defending himself—the adults responsible for his safety will see it, hear him, and act.

Safe and welcoming schools are the foundation for learning and trust. 🗣️

3 big SFUSD updates in 60 seconds:

📉 1. Budget: State experts still flag SFUSD at high financial risk—we need tighter oversight to ensure we can afford every position we hire.
🛑 2. 741 30th Ave: The RFP process is paused, but the Richmond Neighborhood Center still needs a long-term plan and lease extension.
🏫 3. Mandarin Immersion: A new TK-8 school is officially opening in Fall 2027!

I’m not running for School Board to start serving our schools. I’m running to continue the work I’ve been doing for years. 🌉

As the son of an undocumented immigrant, SFUSD was my second home. Our public schools gave me the tools to succeed, which is why I’ve dedicated my time to giving back—from the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to volunteering weekly in local classrooms.

Now, I’m running for the Board of Education to ensure every single student across San Francisco gets those exact same opportunities. Let’s get to work! 📚

Trust in our public schools is broken, but we can rebuild it through total transparency. As the Vice Chair of the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee (and Audit Committee Chair), I have a long record of demanding accountability for how public resources are spent. I will make sure district spending is aligned directly with student outcomes, and I will make those decisions easy for the public to understand. 📊

The math and reading numbers at some of our public schools are a crisis. 📉

SFUSD’s goal is to reach 70% literacy for 3rd graders in just two years. But as Mission Local reported this week, with a massive 21% gap left to close, hitting that target is looking highly unlikely without major, immediate changes.

Even if you don’t have kids in the district, this impacts the future of San Francisco. We cannot keep passing students along without the basic skills they need to succeed. I am running for the SF Board of Education to demand action, prioritize early literacy, and ensure every student gets a strong academic foundation.

Good intentions aren’t enough to run a school district—we need practical, data-informed leadership. Through my career as a biotechnology researcher and a licensed general contractor, I’ve learned how to solve complex problems and measure actual results. I’ve brought that same mindset to the SFUSD Citizens Bond Oversight Committee for years, and I’m ready to bring it to the Board of Education to ensure responsible stewardship of your tax dollars. 🏗️
