Meet Muon, one of the newest members of the SFPUC team. 🐶

Muon is a specially trained scent detection dog helping protect one of California's most endangered reptiles, the San Francisco garter snake. Instead of digging up burrows to search for these elusive snakes, Muon uses her incredible sense of smell to detect their scent. When she finds one, she simply sits and waits for a treat. 🐍

This innovative approach helps biologists identify sensitive habitat while minimizing disturbance to wildlife and supporting important watershed projects. 🌿

It's a great example of how science, teamwork, and a four-legged partner are helping protect healthy ecosystems. 🌟

Great news for San Francisco ratepayers! 🎉

The SFPUC's latest wastewater bond ratings will help keep sewer rates as affordable as possible for our customers. The reaffirmed ratings reflect our strong financial management and ongoing commitment to responsible financial stewardship. 💲

“As a not-for-profit public utility, we do everything we can to keep borrowing costs down and pass those savings on to our ratepayers. Keeping our bond ratings strong is a critical part of that," said Capital Finance Director Nikolai Sklaroff. 🌟

Lower borrowing costs mean more ratepayer dollars can be invested in maintaining and improving critical wastewater infrastructure instead of paying interest. That's another step toward delivering reliable service while helping keep sewer rates affordable. 💧
