Today we officially broke ground on the new Addison Field Restroom. This has been several years in the making, but we celebrate the start of construction today.

Once built, this 32'×64' facility will have a concession area, changing rooms, restrooms, and a maintenance garage. It will also be a shelter for those on the property if inclement weather rolls through.

We want to thank Governor Beshear, DLG & Commissioner Matt Sawyer, the General Assembly, Economic Development Cabnet & Secretary Jeff Noel, the Elliott County Local Health Board, the Elliott County Extension Board, FIVCO, the family of Addison Tussey, and all others who assisted in making this project become reality. We look forward to Allen Construction starting and watching the progress on another new facility for our community!

Elliott Fiscal Court to Break Ground on Restroom, Concession, and Storm-Ready Facility at Addison Field

Join us at Addison Field on Friday, August 28th at 12:30pm as we celebrate the groundbreaking of a new $600,000 storm-ready restroom, concession, and garage facility.

This site is approximately 3 miles south of Sandy Hook on Rt7, and will be located on the property of the farmers market, soil conservation, extension, and Northeast Daycare.

Please use caution as KYTC announces upcoming traffic shift.

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (August 20, 2026) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises drivers of a traffic pattern change in Elliott County on KY 7, in Sandy Hook, on Monday, August 24 at 5:00 p.m. Motorists should use extra caution when approaching the area due to the traffic shift. Traffic will be switching to the north side of the project. This is to construct the southern part of the widening. Motorists should watch for flagged traffic when necessary. This is the next phase of the road widening and turn lane addition.

Elliott Fiscal Court Awarded $3,000,000 for Water Tower at Little Sandy Correctional Complex

This afternoon in Hazard, KY, Congressman Hal Rogers presented a ceremonial check to Judge Executive Myron Lewis in the amount of $3,000,000 through an Army Corp of Engineers Section 531 of the Waters Resources Development Act (WRDA). This project is designed to develop, engineer, and construct a water tower at LSCC for daily use and to have as an additional emergency water resource in the area during times of emergency.

This project was sought after by Judge Lewis after a water mainline break that fed many homes and the prison in 2022, consequently leaving the area without water for several hours during emergency repair.

Once completed, this water tower will ensure more stability in the area of the prison if another line break were to happen.

We thank Congressman Rogers for working with Elliott County and all of Eastern, KY to locate funds that strengthen infrastructure in our area.

This project will be a 2-3 year commitment from Army Corp of Engineers, Rattlesnake Ridge Water District, Bluegrass Engineers, and the KY General Assembly to complete the funding match and build.

Good morning. I hope everyone made it through last night's storms and you are safe. As the link below shows, we still have some power outages in the county. The state of Kentucky still shows about 60,000 customers without power this morning with more storms present.

We will be at the office early this morning to begin answering reports of downed trees, limbs, or other unsafe road conditions on our county roadways. Call us at 606-738-5826 and we will work to get help to you.

We thank our county, state, and utility workers along with all volunteers who were out last night cutting and assisting our community. Thank God for the helpers!

If you have a tree blocking your county or state road, please call 606-738-6000. Inform the dispatcher what road and be as specific as possible in advising them what road the tree is on so they can communicate to county or state effectively. Do not call 911. Please leave this line for emergencies only.

If you have not reported your power outage, please call GRECC @ 800-562-3532. Have your information ready.

Attached is the link to our current outages from GRECC's website. It will be a long night for their team to safely restore power. County crews are also out this evening as well.

If you do not have to travel tonight, please stay in. Stopping distance when you see debris or a tree in the road will not be your friend.
