Concern America was founded on the principle that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves safety and security in their homes and communities. On World Refugee Day, we pay tribute to those who are forcibly uprooted from their homes, communities, and countries, undertaking perilous journeys in search of safety for themselves and their families. We also remember Concern’s long history working with refugees and internally displaced communities in places including Honduras (El Savadoran refugees), Mexico (Guatemalan), Thailand (Cambodian), Colombia (internally displaced), and more. Join us in standing in solidarity with refugees and work towards a world of peace where no one is forced to leave their homes or communities. 🌍🕊️

Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history that marks the end of slavery in the United States. As we reflect on the atrocities of slavery and how it has shaped our country, we also commit to the continued work for racial equality for all. We strive to build a world that is just, equitable, and inclusive for all.

💚 Community is at the heart of everything we do. 🌎

Concern field volunteer Alicia, based in Chiapas, Mexico, also supports our program in Colombia. During Alicia’s recent organizing visit to Colombia, together with Concern’s Field Program Director, Cat, she reflected on the beauty of reconnecting with teams, communities, and the relationships that continue to strengthen Concern’s work across borders.

“It is a privilege to do this work and to help the network continue to grow stronger… In this way, the network continues to grow—and through it, we become one team, a vast team across different parts of the world, with different languages and cultures. But we know we are not alone—we know that Concern America is all of us.” ✨

Through shared experiences, long conversations, learning, and accompaniment, communities continue building connections rooted in care, dignity, and hope. 🤝🌿

🌎🌿 Happy World Environment Day from Concern America! 💚

From the field to our home office, we are grateful for the Earth we share and the communities working every day to care for it. Whether it’s tending a garden 🌱, walking through nature 🚶‍♀️, planting seeds 🌼, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the beauty around us, every act of care matters.

Today, we celebrate our planet and the responsibility we all share to protect and nurture the environment for future generations. 🌍✨

💚 Strengthening Community Care through Mental Health 🌿

Recently in Guatemala, Field Volunteer Dr. Rubelci Cartas, led an intensive mental health course with 40 community health promoter practitioners, creating a space for learning, reflection, and support. Through conversations, psychological first aid training, and shared experiences, participants strengthened their ability to respond to challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and panic attacks within their communities. 🩺🤝

The week also emphasized self-care, empathy, and the importance of listening — reminding us that mental health care is community care. ✨

“Over the course of the week, it was possible to observe each participant’s growing commitment and motivation to improve mental well-being in their communities. Their genuine interest, openness to learning, and willingness to share personal experiences reflected a positive transformation and a deeper awareness of the importance of mental health care.” — Rubelci 😉
