School might be on break, but the learning continues for educators in the 8-county RISE region! Today marked the return of the 2026 Educator Externship. We kicked off the week at Georgia Quick Start where participants explored the future workforce demands in the Savannah area. Tomorrow they team up with companies for an immersive week in their own counties.

We couldn't let May get away without thanking the Economic Development Authority of Claxton & Evans County and Executive Director Adam Kennedy for hosting us for the May Board of Directors Meeting. We met at their new offices in the beautiful newly restored Jack & Muriel Strickland Arts & Cultural Center. Thank you Evans County for the warm welcome!

RISE, in partnership with Effingham County Schools and Bryan County Schools, hosted a group of educators from Lumpkin County Schools as part of an externship visit to the Savannah region. Best practices were shared during the conversation, and the meeting concluded with a tour of the Effingham College & Career Academy. Thanks also to the Development Authority of Bryan County and Effingham County Development Authority for participating in the meeting.

A big thank you to Burlington for sponsoring both RISE FWD events in April! Their support, along with that of our additional sponsors, enables us to offer programming like RISE FWD, which is essential for nurturing the workforce of tomorrow!

That's a wrap on RISE FWD (Future Workforce Day). Thank you to all the employers and educational institutions who came out to connect with high school seniors about their next steps after high school. We heard a lot of excited seniors talking about manufacturing, logistics, advanced training and more!

A special thank you to our sponsors for both events!
RISE FWD East sponsors: Burlington, INCO, Samet Corporation and our host Georgia Tech Savannah and for RISE FWD West: Burlington, AT&T, Coleman Company, Inc., Samet and our host Georgia Southern University!

Our team had a great time in Evans County filming content for our Succeed In Savannah campaign. Thank you Adam Kennedy, Economic Development Authority of Claxton & Evans County, Fruit Cake 's BBQ and Seafood and all the other business and organizations that welcomed us today!

It was a pleasure hosting partners from across our region at the Claxton Bakery, Inc. today!

We were joined by Ella Randal with S.E.D.A. (Savannah Economic Development Authority), Adam Kennedy, Director of Evans/Claxton County Economic Development, and Kiera Canton and Chad Jackson, interns with World Trade Center Savannah.

The group stopped by to film some exciting new content and, of course, enjoy a few samples of our famous Claxton Fruit Cake. We love seeing the continued support for local industry and heritage brands in Georgia!
