We have located the vehicle involved in the August 25 hit-and-run, and it is now in our possession.

We want to thank everyone in our community who shared our post and provided information to our detectives. Your help is greatly appreciated.

This morning, we had the pleasure of hosting our Sebastian Police Department Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at Marsh Landing!🍳💙

We want to take a moment to thank our amazing volunteers for all they do to support our officers, our agency, and our community. Your time, dedication, and willingness to serve make a meaningful difference every day.

Last night, officers responded to the area of US 1 and Main St in reference to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Upon arrival, officers found a white male lying in the middle of US 1 with potentially life-threatening injuries. The vehicle that struck the male fled the scene.

We are asking the community’s assistance in locating the suspect vehicle and identifying the driver. The vehicle is described as a light colored SUV, which was last seen at approximately 9 p.m. on August 25th in the area of the crash.

Today, Interim Chief Wood held a swearing-in ceremony welcoming Matthew Acosta and Camila Zamora as officers in our organization.

UPDATE: The tracks are now clear, and the roadways are back open.

Please be advised that Main Street and SR 512 East and West are currently blocked due to a disabled train.

Traffic is being diverted south on Old Dixie Highway to U.S. 1.

Please avoid the area if possible and allow for additional travel time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
