Mohamed Rage was charged today with one count of Murder in the 2nd Degree and one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm. On May 27th, Shakopee Police Department responded to Canterbury Park on a weapons complaint. Officers
learned that an individual had been shot, was in the parking lot in front of the Expo Center, and the shooter was no longer on scene. Upon arrival, officers saw a large crowd of people in front of the Expo Center and saw Victim lying on his back receiving medical attention. Victim was conscious, alert and breathing. Victim was able to identify himself by name. Officers observed a gunshot wound to Victim's chest and observed an injury to his chin. Victim stated that he could feel himself "filling up with blood" in his chest and stomach area. Victim was transported from the scene via ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) for further medical care. On the scene, officers spoke to Victim's wife, A.D.Y., who stated that Victim and herself were exiting the Expo center when they were approached by a male, later identified as Rage. A.D.Y. stated that Rage told Victim that he wanted to fight him. Victim told Rage "Please leave me alone, I don't want to fight." A.D.Y. stated that Victim and herself were walking through the
parking lot to go home and Defendant followed them. A.D.Y. did not know how close Rage was to Victim when he shot him but stated that Victim tried to run. Victim passed away at the HCMC.
