🚔POLICE WEEK SPOTLIGHT🚔

Today, during we'd like to recognize Ashley Scott, Police Dispatcher for the Simpsonville Police Department. She like all our dispatchers are members of a dedicated team of 911 first responders that support citizens in a state of crisis, as well as, guide all our officers back home safely.

"Dispatching stood out to me because it puts you right there at the start of someone’s emergency. Being able to calm someone down, listen, and help them feel less alone in a moment of fear really matters to me. I’ve been through my own challenges, and those experiences help me relate to callers and truly care about getting them the help they need."

Something she feels is important for the public to understand is when you call 911 and are asked additional questions, know help is already on the way. A common misconception is that those questions slow things down, but they actually help first responders know exactly what they’re walking into so they can arrive prepared and keep everyone safer.

Ashley is a phenomenal dispatcher with 7 years in law enforcement. She is a team player and recognized by her peers for her authenticity and dependability. We're honored to have her with this department and serving this community!

As a School Resource Officer, SRO Sweatt not only serves as a law enforcement officer, but as a mentor, educator, and positive role model, working to keep the school safe while building strong relationships with students, staff, and the community.

The Simpsonville Police Department possesses a strong commitment to community trust and proactive policing, along with a family-like culture within the department where officers support each other and work together.

🚨OFFICER SPOTLIGHT🚨
Officer Darius Gleaton, Patrolman First Class - Delta Shift

Officer Gleaton was driven to law enforcement because of his deep passion to connect with and care for our community. He is able to build closer relationships with the public, in part to Simpsonville being close knit and citizens having genuine concern for their neighbors. Something he appreciates with the Simpsonville Police Department in particular is how involved we are in community service.

His professional career started with the United States Army. After the Army, he transitioned to law enforcement with the SC Highway Patrol. He has served with the Simpsonville PD for 5 years now and continues to serve in the Army National Guard.

His military and medical experience have saved lives and assisted many victims in crisis. He strives to further his medical knowledge and is working towards getting his bachelors in nursing to become a flight medic.

“It's a tough, dangerous, and noble job with long hours away from your family, friends and loved ones.” says Gleaton. He brings a level of maturity to his job while also providing a light-hearted and jovial attitude with every interaction he makes. For this we are honored to have him as a member of this department.
