From Missing Dogs Massachusetts
Our update:
Joyful news from Smithfield, RI, as Lily has been safely trapped by Missing Dogs Massachusetts after an incredible 10-day journey and being hit by a truck!
A compassionate friend of the family's timely outreach paved the way for our involvement, and we're grateful they did. Throughout the past few days, reports of a dog matching Lily's description roaming the area where she vanished allow us to begin putting our plan in place. We're thankful to those who reached out to us via calls, messages and Bob, Smithfield Animal Control Officer, with valuable information and jumping into action when we trapped her.
Notably, Lily had been spotted behind D'Agostino Motors on multiple occasions, leading us to an extraordinary group of people who selflessly offered their assistance in bringing Lily home. Their kindness in allowing us to set up cameras and a trap on their property was truly remarkable.
As anticipated, at 2:22 am, Lily's curiosity led her to a delectable meal, and just one enticing circle around the trap couldn't keep her from the savory feast within. Anticipating her anxiety, we provided a treat bone to keep her occupied, allowing her to decompress in the trap. Following a safe capture, we reunited with Smithfield ACO, at the dealership, and Lily was transported to the compassionate care of Tri Town Shelter. Within 10 minutes of being in her kennel, Lily's tail began wagging, a testament to her resilience. She will receive thorough veterinary care and be put up for adoption, giving her a second chance at life.
We kindly request that you respect our decision regarding Lily's future and refrain from negative comments, focusing instead on the bright new chapter unfolding for her. Welcome to your brighter tomorrow, Lily! I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to Robin, MDM volunteer, for her tireless efforts in gathering vital information behind the scenes, ensuring the success of our plan.
