⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Fake Fire Inspection Equipment Sales
We have received reports of an ongoing scam targeting local businesses. Scammers are falsely claiming to represent the local fire department and stating that an inspection is scheduled to take place soon. Business owners are being told they must purchase:

• Three (3) fire extinguishers
• Three (3) smoke detectors

These items are allegedly to be shipped via FedEx. Victims are being instructed to make three separate payments using Bitcoin in order to "pass the inspection."
This is a scam.
Fire prevention bureaus in Rhode Island never sell fire safety equipment.

Please remember:

• No fire department will demand payment via cryptocurrency.
• Fire safety equipment is not sold directly through local fire departments.
• Legitimate inspections are always scheduled through official communication and include proper identification.

If you are contacted with a similar request:

• Do not send any money or provide personal information.
• Report the incident immediately to your local police department.
• For any questions or concerns, contact your local fire department and speak directly with the Fire Marshal.

Stay vigilant and help spread the word to protect our community.

This Saturday the members of Local 3984 were outside Walmart in North Smithfield collecting for MDA. The employees of Walmart showed support by taking up a collection and dropping it off the firefighters. A total of $280 was raised amongst the employees. It was a great surprise to our effort and greatly appreciated.

The firefighters will return again on August 31st from 8-12 to collect.

At 1900 (7PM), a first alarm fire assignment was called for a stove fire at 65 Rayner Street in Blackstone. Crews from Blackstone and Woonsocket responded initially. Crews arriving to the scene found smoke coming from various areas of the residence. A working fire assignment was made, calling in additional crews and apparatus, including an ambulance and Rapid Intervention Team(RIT). Blackstone Car 2 and Car 1 arrived soon after the initial responding units and requested a 2nd alarm as additional crews were needed for extensive overhaul inside and outside the residence. The residents of the home were able to make it out of the home safely. One of the Blackstone's crews was able to get a dog out of the home quickly.

We thank the mutual aid crews from the Woonsocket Fire Department, Bellingham Fire Department, Mendon Fire Department, Millville Fire Rescue , Uxbridge Fire Department, Cumberland Fire Department, and North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service, Inc. for assisting. Thank you to the Providence Canteen for providing assistance to our crews.

Tonight, we put into service our new engine 2 and within 3 hours of being in service it's first call was tonight's fire. Engine 2 was the first arriving apparatus and deployed the initial hand lines which extinguished the fire. The fire was investigated by the District 7 Fire Investigation Unit along with the State Fire Marshall's Office.
