The Southfield Public Schools Annual Back-To-School Fair is back! In partnership with the City of Southfield, the fair will take place at the Southfield Municipal Campus.

This Friday, August 7th, 4:00-7:00pm

Please note that the library and the drive up return will close at 1:00 pm on August 7th for the Back To School Fair. Any items due on Friday, August 7th can be returned on Saturday, August 8th.

The library is open regular hours - 10:00am to 5:00pm - on Saturday, August 8th.

EVERY child deserves a safe, comfortable place to call home.

On Saturday, August 1st, the Southfield Police Department, in partnership with Picking Up the Pieces and the Chief's Advisory Board, is collecting donations to help 20 children transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing.

Together, we can transform empty rooms into places filled with hope, comfort, and new beginnings.

⏰ Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Southfield Police Department Parking Lot (26000 Evergreen Rd.)

We're looking to fill the truck with new or gently used items, including:

A new chapter is coming to one of Southfield's most recognizable office properties.

The former Blue Cross Blue Shield campus at 11 Mile and Inkster will be transformed into a vibrant mixed-use community featuring:

• 305 new workforce housing apartments
• Ground-floor retail space
• Opportunities for future commercial development
• A $65.1 million private investment in Southfield

As communities across the country continue adapting to changes in how and where people work, Southfield is reimagining underutilized office space to meet today's housing needs and create new opportunities for residents and businesses.

The project was also featured today in Crain's Detroit Business, reflecting regional interest in Southfield's innovative approach to redevelopment.

Due to funding constraints, Michigan Works! is realigning its centers this summer, which includes the closing of our Southfield facility, 21415 Civic Center Drive, effective June 30, 2026. A new center to support southern Oakland County will open in early Fall 2026. Stay tuned for additional details on a new center location.
