🚑 THE NEW RINCON EMS STATION IS TAKING SHAPE! 🏗️

The ambulance cover is going up — literally! Crews are now erecting the metal building at the site of the new Rincon EMS Station, marking another major step forward in the project.

The new station at the intersection of Ga. Highway 21 and 10th Avenue is part of Effingham County’s continued investment in emergency services and will provide a modern facility designed to better serve EMS personnel and the growing Rincon-area community.

💰 Funded through SPLOST, the project is one of several investments aimed at strengthening emergency response infrastructure across Effingham County.

🚨 OPERATION: DON’T TELL THE CREW 🤫🚑

For four days last week, 20 Effingham County EMS ambulance crews hurried into EMS headquarters in Springfield not knowing exactly what was waiting for them.

Training Manager Roxanne Rigsby had a plan — and she was keeping it under wraps.

Each crew signed a confidentiality agreement to make sure the details of the training they were about to receive -- dubbed the Code Blue Challenge -- stayed secret. That meant no crew could tip off another crew about what was coming.

The mission: Put each crew into a realistic cardiac arrest simulation and see how they responded without preparation or advance warning.

No rehearsed responses. No opportunity to compare notes. Just the crew, the scenario and the skills they've been trained to use when a real emergency strikes.

Project Camellia Work Session

The Effingham County Board of Commissioners will conduct a Project Camellia Work Session on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The work session will provide residents with a comprehensive look at Project Camellia, including the history of the site location and project, decisions made to mitigate community concerns, and the benefits the project is expected to bring to Effingham County. The session will also include an opportunity for public input.

The rain may be coming, but Saturday’s Community Yard Sale is still on! ☔️

Due to the high probability of rain, the event has been moved indoors to the Effingham County Recreation Complex Gym.

And we’re getting ready! Programming and Special Events Coordinator Jen Baldwin (left) and Office Coordinator Heidi Selman (right) have been hard at work marking off spaces in the gym for our sellers, making sure everyone has a spot ready to go. 👏

🚧 ROAD IMPROVEMENT ALERT | Aug. 31–Sept. 4 🚧

Drivers should expect daily lane closures next week as construction crews continue work on several Hodgeville Road roundabout projects.
Lane closures will be required for installation of:

• Base and pavement
• Curb and gutter
• Sidewalks
• Driveways

📍 Areas affected:
• Blue Jay Road & Hodgeville Road
• Goshen Road & Hodgeville Road
• Kolic Helmey Road & Hodgeville Road

Additionally, drainage improvements in Hunter’s Chase will require daily lane closures.

Please slow down, use caution in work zones and allow extra travel time. 🚗⚠️

🚧 The Next Phase Is About to Begin! 🚑

The pieces are arriving — and construction crews are scheduled to begin installing metal buildings at two important Effingham County public-safety projects: the new Rincon EMS facility and the Marlow EMS/Fire Station No. 3.

Materials are now being delivered and unloaded at both sites, marking another visible step forward in these SPLOST-funded projects.

🏥 Rincon EMS Facility
The new facility will provide a modern home for EMS operations in the Rincon area, improving the space and resources available to emergency personnel and helping support continued growth in the that part of the county.

🚒 Marlow EMS/Fire Station No. 3
The Marlow project will provide a new, modern facility serving both EMS and fire-rescue operations, strengthening emergency response capabilities in the western portion of the county.

With the structural materials now arriving, the projects are about to look a whole lot different. Metal building installation is already underway in Rincon.

🐾🏗️ Animal Shelter Renovation Update 🏗️🐾

Construction is moving forward at the Effingham County Animal Shelter!

Workers are preparing to pour concrete for a new cat housing area and the foundation for a new third building at the shelter. These additions are part of a larger renovation project designed to expand the shelter’s capacity and improve the facilities for the animals and the people who care for them.

The project includes renovations to the existing shelter, additional animal housing space and improvements to the overall facility.

💰 The entire project is being funded through SPLOST, representing a significant investment in Effingham County’s animal services.

One pour at a time, the future of the shelter is taking shape. 🐶🐱
