When you flush the toilet or run the faucet in the Eugene-Springfield area, that used water most likely goes to the MWMC’s Regional Water Pollution Control Facility to be cleaned. The treatment plant and associated facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to collect and treat wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries before returning the cleaned water to the Willam

ette River. We clean an average of 35 million gallons of wastewater every day. The Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) is a regional partnership of the cities of Eugene and Springfield, and Lane County government that provides high-quality wastewater services to the Eugene-Springfield area. Did you know? August is National Water Quality Month! 💧

Clean water is essential to healthy, livable communities. From drinking water and stormwater to wastewater, many different systems work together to protect the water we all depend on.

That’s the idea behind One Water—looking at our water as one connected system and recognizing how local utilities, governments and community partners work together to keep it clean.

This video, created by the MWMC in partnership with our local drinking water providers and local governments, explores the many ways we work together to protect water quality in our community.

Watch and learn how it all connects! 🌎

One Water Partners: City of Eugene Government Stormwater, City of Springfield, Oregon Government Stormwater, Lane County Government Stormwater, Eugene Water & Electric Board, Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission , Rainbow Water District , and Springfield Utility Board
