We love receiving your feedback on our Facebook wall as a means of keeping communication in Ritenour open and thriving. Please be respectful when joining the conversation, and note the following Ritenour Facebook comment guidelines.

3. If you disagree with a post, we’d like to hear from you. However, please refrain from personal attacks or being disrespectful of others.

Our Ritenour students are enjoying creative lessons that connect with Hispanic Heritage Month. Here’s a peek inside Mrs. Anderson’s fifth-grade classroom, where students are connecting what they’ve learned about monarch butterflies’ annual migration to Mexico with the art of renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Daily morning slides introduce students to notable Hispanic trailblazers, while hands-on projects have them creating colorful alebrijes as they explore Mexican folk art and culture.

After 28 years of service to the Ritenour School District, Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride has announced he will retire on June 30, 2027.

Dr. Kilbride has been part of the Ritenour family since 1999, first as a teacher and later as a school leader and superintendent. For nearly three decades, he has helped shape the opportunities, programs and support available to Ritenour students and families.

Through it all, his focus has remained clear: Every Student, Every Day.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Kilbride’s leadership, his commitment to our students and the relationships he has built across the Ritenour community. His impact will be felt in our schools for many years to come.

Today is an early dismissal day in Ritenour!

Ritenour's calendar includes five early dismissal days for Ritenour students in grades K-12. On early dismissal days, the school day ends two hours early for students. Lunch times are adjusted so all students have the opportunity to eat lunch in all Ritenour schools on early dismissal days. After-school care is available on all early dismissal days for elementary school students.

Ritenour High School/Husky Academy: 8:05 a.m. - 12:50 p.m.
Middle Schools: 7:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
* Elementary Schools: 8:40 a.m. - 1:25 p.m.
Julie Hahn Center for International Learners: 7:10 -11:20 a.m.
Early Childhood: Full day students dismiss at 1:25 p.m. Afternoon classes do not meet.

*Please note that if you have bus riders, an adult or the child’s older sibling must meet kindergarten and first-grade students at their bus stop. If no one is present to meet the student, bus drivers are instructed to return the child to school.

Hispanic Heritage Month is especially meaningful in Ritenour.

Our district is made up of many unique cultures that shape our schools and our story. Hispanic students and families are an important part of who we are. You hear Spanish in our hallways, see family traditions reflected throughout the district, and experience every day how different cultures make our community a more interesting and welcoming place.

From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, we’re proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the many people who help make Ritenour feel like Ritenour.

Our Husky juniors and seniors were thinking about what comes next today at Ritenour High School’s first college fair of the school year! Representatives from more than 35 colleges and technical schools from Missouri and surrounding states, along with branches of the military, were on hand to talk with students, answer questions and help them explore their options after high school. It was a great opportunity for our Huskies to make connections and get excited about their next steps!

Today is National IT Professionals Day, and we are so grateful for our incredible team of talented IT specialists in Ritenour. You may not always see them, but they are always in the background, making sure our phones and Internet are working, Chromebooks are up and running, and teachers and staff have full functionality of a host of online tools for teaching, managing student data, and much more. Thank you for all you do for Ritenour students and staff every day!

As we get ready to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Ritenour Middle School seventh graders had the special opportunity today to learn from Pedro Martin, author and illustrator of the award-winning book, Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir.

Martin shared stories about growing up as a Mexican-American in a large family on the West Coast and how he turned his childhood dream of becoming a writer and illustrator into a reality. Students also heard about his creative process to inspire their own storytelling and artwork.

A big thank-you to for making this memorable visit possible and providing a copy of Mexikid for every student who participated, as well as for the RMS library!

Ritenour students started the 2026-2027 school year with thousands of new school supplies, backpacks, clothing and personal care products thanks to the incredible generosity of our community partners.

Several businesses, organizations and faith communities that led major donation efforts were recognized at the Sept. 10 Board of Education meeting for going above and beyond for Ritenour students and families.

A special thank you to SSM Health DePaul Hospital, Avantor Sciences, Classic Aire Care, Olivet University, PENNYMAC, Waypoint Church - Overland and the Assistance League of St. Louis for their tremendous support of our Black & Orange Back-to-School Resource Fair.

We are also grateful to St. Louis Lambert International Airport, Costco Business Center, the Ritenour Kiwanis Club, Maritz, HarmonySTL, New Horizon Church, Grace Church, First Baptist Church of St. John, DAUGHTERS of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION, The Gund Company and Burger King for supporting Ritenour schools and programs throughout the summer.

It takes a community to make sure students arrive at school prepared, confident and ready to learn. We are grateful to every partner who donated supplies, resources, time and energy to help our students start the year strong!

Congratulations to Ritenour School District Director of Professional Learning Dr. Evelyn Gilliam, who has been selected to receive the Edward and Esther Haywood Caring Educator Award from the Charles E. Fleming Legacy Foundation!

The award recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional care and commitment to students. Dr. Gilliam will be honored at the Foundation’s Dec. 6 celebration at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis.

As Ritenour’s Director of Professional Learning, Dr. Gilliam supports educators across the district by strengthening instruction, developing staff and helping create learning environments where every student can succeed.

Congratulations to Dr. Bruce Green, Ritenour’s assistant superintendent for Secondary Education, who recently received the National Service to Youth Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis.

The award recognizes Dr. Green’s longtime commitment to supporting and developing young people. He was honored during the organization’s annual Spotlight on Service event on Aug. 25.

Dr. Green has been involved with the St. Louis Internship Program for nearly three decades, first as a student in the SLIP Class of 1995 and later as a Training Facilitator. Through the years, he has helped high school students build personal, academic, college and career skills while also helping shape programming that prepares young people for future success.
