Deputy Maier got to make his Books and Badges debut this morning at the Star Library! He read about animals and farmers and then had the kids choose which books to read next.

Thank you to the amazing staff at the library and to all the families who came!

Meet Deputy Maier!

Deputy Maier started his law enforcement career in California in 2015. In 2024, he was hired by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy before joining Star Police in early 2025.

When he’s not serving the citizens of Star, Deputy Maier enjoys spending time in the garden with his kids and starting his day with a simple cup of black coffee.

⭐️ Fun fact about Deputy Maier: He played college football in Missouri.

Please join us in giving him a warm welcome to the Star community!

National Night Out is right around the corner -- have you registered your party?

This nationwide event is all about strengthening the connection between our community and law enforcement in a fun, relaxed setting. It's a chance to meet your neighbors, talk with our deputies, and enjoy an evening together. We've attended everything from ice cream socials to watermelon seed spitting contests to simply spending time together in a neighbor's backyard.

If you're hosting a neighborhood gathering and would like a visit from our deputies, please sign up by Wednesday, July 15th. To learn more and register, go here: https://adacounty.id.gov/sheriff/national-night-out/

(Even if you've already registered on the National Night Out website at natw.org, please complete our local form as well.)

Hold onto your fishing poles -- less than 3 days until the Annual Star Police Fishing Rodeo! 🎣

Join us this Saturday, June 13, from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Star Riverhouse for a day filled with fishing, food, family fun, and great memories. Best of all, it's Idaho Free Fishing Day, so no fishing license is required!

We've stocked the pond with big, beautiful trophy fish that are ready to be caught, and Star Police officers will be on hand to help kids learn how to fish, cast a line, and enjoy the outdoors. This event is all about building positive connections between kids and law enforcement while having a great time together.

Please note that the West Pond will be reserved for fishing only during the event. Swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking will not be permitted from 10 AM to 1 PM.

No tackle? No problem. Free bait will be provided, and City of Star Recreation will have a limited number of loaner fishing poles available.

Bring the family and come enjoy a fantastic day on the water. We can't wait to see you there!
