As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, Martin County Fire Rescue is thrilled to announce we have added sensory kits to all of our rescue trucks.🚑

These essential care packages are designed to provide comfort, reduce anxiety and improve the overall transport experience for patients with special needs.

Each kit contains calming and tactile items such as noise-reducing headphones, fidget toys, sensory objects and other comfort tools intended to help patients self-regulate during stressful situations.

The use of sensory kits during EMS transport can help decrease sensory overload caused by lights, sirens, confined spaces and unfamiliar environments.

By providing appropriate sensory stimulation and calming resources, these kits may reduce agitation, improve communication and cooperation, lower anxiety levels and create a safer and more positive interaction between patients and first responders.

Our first-ever Rip-N-Ride Safety Day was a “fin-tastic” success! 🌊 🐠

Hundreds of children and families joined us Saturday morning at Sailfish Splash for life-saving water safety education. Our incredible Ocean Rescue team led multiple rip current simulator demonstrations, while Community Risk Reduction Specialist Josh Jenkins gave hands-on CPR instruction.

Thank you Martin County Board of County Commissioners and Sailfish Splash Waterpark for hosting such an important water safety event.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend, Martin County!
