Another round of applause for Martin County Fire Rescue’s incredible finish at the 2026 Southeast Regional Firefighter Challenge Classic in Deerfield Beach. 👏🔥

In nearly 100-degree heat and full bunker gear, this team put their strength, speed and firefighting skills to the test on a grueling course designed to simulate job-related tasks.

Here’s what they faced:

🗼The first teammate started the course by running up a five-story tower of stairs while carrying a 42-pound hose pack.
💪Once at the top of the tower, that same teammate conducted a hand-over-hand hoist of a 42-pound donut roll. Then, that person ran all the way down the stairs to tap in the next participant.
🔨Once at the base of the tower, the next crew member practiced forcible entry by using a nearly 10-pound dead blow hammer to force a 160-pound steel beam five feet backward.
👨‍🚒The next teammate weaved through a 140-foot slalom course without knocking over or missing any fire hydrants. Then, another person dragged a hose line 75 feet through the swinging doors and aimed the water nozzle to hit the target.
⛑️Finally, one teammate dragged a 165-pound manikin more than 100 feet backward and across the finish line!

Each team competed several times in different parts of the challenge to try and earn the best overall time. MCFR won two, first-place titles, one second-place finish and a third-place distinction.

Update: All lane of Interstate 95 southbound have been reopened.

🚨I-95 SOUTHBOUND LANES CLOSED AS MCFR CREWS RESPOND TO CRASH INVOLVING FIVE VEHICLES🚨

Paramedics treated and transported one patient with traumatic injuries and three patients with minor injuries following a major crash Tuesday evening.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. near the 101 mile-marker of Interstate 95 southbound in Stuart. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly worked to extinguish a fire that had started in one of the five vehicles involved, while paramedics assessed passenger injuries.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office was also on scene. All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 are closed as multiple agencies work together to clear the area. Please expect delays and seek alternate routes.

🚨LIFESTAR AND MCFR FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND🚨

LifeStar flew a man with traumatic injuries to the hospital Tuesday after a motorcycle accident.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday near the 98 mile-marker on Interstate 95 southbound in Hobe Sound. Upon arrival, firefighters worked to extinguish the heavy flames coming from the motorcycle, while paramedics assessed its rider. LifeStar landed on the interstate and airlifted the man to the hospital with traumatic injuries.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office was also on scene. All lanes of Interstate 95 southbound had reopened. However, just a little while later, another crash involving multiple vehicles occurred near the same area, which caused southbound lanes to close again.

🔥MCFR & SFR FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH LITHIUM-ION BATTERY FIRE IN JENSEN BEACH GARAGE🔥

Two people and a dog are safe this morning after Martin County Fire Rescue and Stuart Fire Rescue crews extinguished a garage fire.

The fire started just after 6:30 a.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Northeast Cypress Lane in Jensen Beach. Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the garage where the homeowner said they had been charging a lithium-ion battery for lawn equipment. Crews quickly evacuated the home, contained the fire to the garage and put out the flames. No other structures were in danger.

This was a close call and an important reminder to unplug batteries when they are done charging to prevent overheating. Please visit the National Fire Prevention Association’s website for more information on lithium-ion battery safety.

🏆SETTING RECORDS & TAKING HOME THE HARDWARE🏆

Members of Martin County Fire Rescue competed in the Firefighter Challenge Southeast Classic in Deerfield Beach last week.

In full bunker gear and nearly 100 degree weather, these dedicated crews dominated a series of obstacles including a weighted, 5-story stair climb, almost 50-pound hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance and a more than 160-pound manikin victim rescue.

🔥Fire Department Female Tandem:
Not only did Hannah Abell and Hannah Helton win first place, they now hold the new U.S. record for this category.

🔥Fire Department Female Relay:
Melissa Reilly, Hannah Abell, Hannah Helton, Jessica Rosenberg and Sabrina Price earned 1st place.

🔥Fire Department Co-ed Tandem:
Mikey Messier and Sabrina Price earned 2nd place.
John Coppola and Jess Rosenberg earned 3rd place.

🔥Fire Department Co-ed Relay:
Conner Pecci, Tommy Duane, John Coppola, Alicia Neumann and Hannah Abell earned 4th place.

🔥MCFR FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH PALM CITY BARN FIRE WITH MOTORHOME AND JEEP INSIDE🔥

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, The Martin County Sheriff’s Office helicopter (Air One) was in flight and spotted a barn on fire.

Martin County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the 8200 block of Southwest Martin Highway in Palm City. When crews arrived, they found an approximately 1,600 square-foot barn engulfed in flames with the roof already gone.

Firefighters discovered a class C motorhome and Jeep inside that were creating heavy fuel. They quickly put out the flames and monitored hot spots.

No one was hurt and firefighters contained the flames before they spread past the barn. The State Fire Marshal has been notified and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Thank you to our neighboring agencies including Stuart Fire Rescue, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Power & Light (FPL) that were also on scene.

🚨MCFR PARAMEDICS TREAT & TRANSPORT MAN WITH TRAUMATIC INJURIES AFTER SUV AND BRIGHTLINE TRAIN COLLIDE🚨

Martin County Fire Rescue crews responded to an SUV and Brightline train collision Thursday morning in Hobe Sound.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. when an SUV and northbound Brightline train collided near the intersection of Southeast Dixie Highway and Southeast Crossrip Street. The man driving the SUV had traumatic injuries, and paramedics transported him to the hospital by ground.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office was also on scene, and the proper investigative agencies have been notified. All train tracks in the area have been reopened.
